Greetings Lake Deaton Family,

This study of the Five Principles of Fruitful Congregations is really about getting to the heart of living out the necessary ingredients of purposeful mission, so that we can continue to be faithful to our call to make disciples within The Villages and beyond.

Today before I was sitting down to write this article, I met with the team of leaders from our congregation that we have called the “Relaunch Team.” This is a group of people from across the spectrum of our church that began to meet last spring to study the Conference Guidelines, CDC guidelines, and also keep in touch with our own local community, to make decisions on how to open up the ministries of the church after we were originally called to shut everything down. Over the course of the past nine months, we have met regularly to evaluate where we are as a congregation and to see what we need to do to continue to be as open and hospitable as possible to our community while faithfully maintaining the guidelines given to us.

As we reviewed the current research and CDC Guidelines, we are excited to announce that we will continue to move into a more open posture over the next couple of months, as the number of people within our community continue to be vaccinated. Over the next month you will be seeing us return to being able to eat meals together at the church (with some basis guidelines on how we serve the food). You will also see us move back to passing a connection pad during worship and passing the offering basket. These are just a few things to begin to move back into a normal place, but they are significant in that they will allow us to be as welcoming as possible to all guests that come within our church grounds.

We hope that as you are vaccinated you will feel a freedom to come back to in-person worship and that you will be excited to bring new guests to see what great things are happening at Lake Deaton. Truly, life is better at the Lake.

We Need Volunteers!!

Re-Visioning Process
Responding to the Light - Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations
Please Note:

Please note that the chapter in the book, Five Practices for Fruitful Congregations, for our study beginning the week of May 2 is chapter 5, not chapter 4 as is stated in the opening instructions of the Study Guide. We are doing "RISK-TAKING MISSION & SERVICE" before "INTENTIONAL FAITH DEVELOPMENT". Please remind your participates so they are reading the correct chapter in the book. The Study Guide and Sermon/Worship Series are following this sequence taking Risk-Taking Mission and Service before Intentional Faith Development. We apologize for the confusion this may create for your group!

It's not too late to sign up for the devotional, click here!! For more information on Small Groups and/ or our Re-Vision process click here.

Mother's Day Offering
Next week, May 1st & 2nd, we will have a guest speaker from Kid’s Central talking about how the money raised from our 2020 Christmas Wish Tree project, ($9,220 for The Self-Sufficiency program) has helped women improve their lives and the lives of their children. A short video of a mother giving her testimonial of how this program has her on track to get her 6 children back after not living with them for about 7 years will be shown. She successfully completed the Self-Sufficiency Program and our contribution provided funds to pay some of her back rent and paid for her CNA (certified nurses assistant) preparatory class (she passed the class and is now a CNA). A Special Mother’s Day Offering will be taken up on Mother’s Day, May 9th to benefit the Self-Sufficiency Program. Please help keep reuniting and strengthening families.
