It gives us great pleasure to announce that today at 10:00 AM CST, United States Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona recognized Lake Forest Community High School with a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School Award
A Culture of Excellence
The coveted National Blue Ribbon School award is given by the U.S. Department of Education to schools that foster a culture of excellence, affirming “the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.”
An Award for All LFHS Scouts
This is an award that belongs to LFHS Scouts past and present. We are grateful for the leadership and vision of our former Lake Forest High School Principal, Dr. Chala Holland, and former Superintendent, Mr. Michael Simeck; for the dedication, expertise, and professionalism of our esteemed faculty and staff; the tireless encouragement and support of the Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood communities; and, of course, the steadfast effort of our students, without whom none of this would be possible.
Schools that apply for national consideration undergo a lengthy application process to demonstrate the quality teaching and learning environments and exceptional impact on student outcomes they have exhibited. Schools, both public and non-public, may be nominated for the award only once within a five-year period. This is Lake Forest Community High School’s first National Blue Ribbon School Award.

Celebrating Today with an Eye Toward Tomorrow
As new school and District leaders, this award is a reminder of just how fortunate we are to have been selected to serve such an exemplary school and community. We look forward to all that lies ahead for LFHS, and hope that today each member of our school community will pause to celebrate the shared accomplishment of becoming a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School.
With respect, pride, and gratitude,
