One Act Play, "The Amazing Angelman", competed at the State Theater Competition

Badger High School’s One Act Play, "The Amazing Angelman", competed at the State Theater Competition held at UW-Milwaukee on Friday, Nov. 22nd and took home eight awards, including Critic's Choice, the highest award a play can receive. The play performed to a full house on the Mainstage and received a standing ovation. The plot is about a young boy, James, who suffers from Angelman Syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder that causes speech issues and forces him to use a wheelchair. The story shifts from James’ imagination where he is the superhero, The Amazing Angel-Man, to the real world, where his condition impacts his family, particularly his father. As the play progresses, the two separate worlds overlap, leading to an ending that merges hope and imagination. The play was inspired by a real-life boy with the condition. The cast included 27 Badger actors and actresses as well as two crew members.

Computer Science Week

December 9 - 15 was Computer Science Week. We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works. Learning even the basics will help students in nearly any career—from engineering to zoology. Just as we teach students how to dissect a frog, or how electricity works, it’s important for every student to have a chance to design an app or an algorithm, or learn how the Internet works. Coding and Computer Science are vital to the world economy and are top fields in the U.S. job market. Learning to code is fun, too! Elementary through High School students participated in computer science activities all week. The photos above are a sneak peek of some of the coding fun that took place at Eastview Elementary School.

On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, the Lake Geneva Middle School Counseling Department had the distinct honor of celebrating 119 outstanding students at their Above & Beyond Ceremony. This prestigious award is designed to showcase the outstanding students that go above and beyond everyday expectations. The award winners have displayed qualities such as overcoming challenges, exceeding typical performance, displaying perseverance, consistently staying positive, and supporting others.
