Boards of Education Select Superintendent of Schools
The Lake Geneva Joint 1 School Board of Education and Lake Geneva – Genoa City Union High School Board of Education are pleased and proud to announce that Peter Wilson, PhD, will become the next Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Wilson becomes the fifth Superintendent since the districts were formed in 1958. The school boards formally approved his contract on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. He will officially begin his new role on July 1, 2022.

Congratulations Badger Auto Students Jeremiah Clevenger & Josh Machac!
Badger auto students Jeremiah Clevenger and Josh Machac placed 3rd in the state finals of the Auto Dealers Association - Technicians of Tomorrow Competition held at the Milwaukee Auto Show on Friday, March 4, 2022. They repaired eleven planted bugs on a 2021 Ford Escape in a seventy-five-minute time period. A vehicle was provided to practice on by Kunes Ford in Delavan. Josh and Jeremiah also demonstrated their skills in areas of: air conditioning, steering/suspension & brakes, tire service, a job interview, and electrical and wiring repair. Josh and Jeremiah each walked away with multiple job offers, a $1,000 scholarship, SnapOn tools and a gift bag full of items from Ford, Chevy, Subaru and Automotive Dealers. Jeremiah and Josh qualified for the finals by scoring in the top six schools in the state on an industry certification test.

Headed to the Badger State Spelling Bee
Congratulations to T.J. Montemurro, a fifth grader at Star Center Elementary! T.J. was one of the CESA 2 Spelling Bee Champions and will be competing at the Badger State Spelling Bee on March 26 in Madison. The Badger State Spelling Bee is the final level of competition in the state to determine who will represent Wisconsin at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. We wish T.J. the very best of luck in Madison!

Elementary Music Tour
On March 9th, the 6th grade choir and 5th/6th grade band and orchestra students performed at Star Center Elementary School and Eastview Elementary School. The Elementary Music Tour helps introduce students in 3rd through 5th grade to the musical opportunities that are available for them starting as early as 4th grade (orchestra), 5th grade (band) and heading into middle school (choir). Students and families will receive more information this spring about joining these programs for next school year! Wonderful performances 5th and 6th graders!

Reminder No School
March 25 - April 1, 2022
Lake Geneva Schools has made a minor modification to this year’s academic calendar. Students at Badger High School, Lake Geneva Middle School, Star Center Elementary School, Eastview Elementary School, and Central-Denison Elementary School will have no school Friday, March 25, 2022. This additional day off will lead into our normally scheduled spring break, March 28 - April 1, 2022. All students and staff will return to school on Monday, April 4, 2022. We hope this extra day helps to make your spring break that much more enjoyable with students returning ready to have a successful last quarter of the 2021-2022 school year.

DECA State Career Development Conference 2022
Twenty students from Badger High School competed at the DECA Wisconsin Career Development Conference from February 22-24th. DECA members traveled to Grand Geneva Resort to compete in 28 occupational series events as well as prepared written project presentations. Over 1,200 students from Wisconsin participated in this conference.
Fifteen Badger DECA members were recognized on stage by earning medals in either their 100-question cluster test, one of the two role-play events in their event category, or a top ten finalist medal. Our chapter members captured 28 individual medals. Ten members earned a champion medal for placing first through tenth place in their event.

The Geneva Lake Women’s Association and the Lake Geneva Jaycees are accepting applications for 2022 Lake Geneva Safety Town being held Tuesday, June 7th-Friday, June 10th at Lake Geneva Middle School. Safety Town is open to all children entering 5K in the fall.
