Week 3: David and Nathan
A Note of Praise!
We had three new people attend our Jobseekers Group last week. That makes a total of 18 people who have attended, all of whom (except for these three brand new people) have attended multiple times. That may seem like a modest ministry, but there is some very good news. We know of at least seven now former members who have landed full-time jobs.
Like that old story about the child tossing starfish back into the ocean, those jobs make a huge difference to these individuals. As one example, a woman told us she had just landed a position the day before our meeting a couple weeks ago. She is a single parent caring for four boys and her disabled mother, and the only breadwinner in this family. She welled up in tears when she told us she was down to her last $120 when the job offer came through.
Now, we certainly can't take credit for "placing" any of these people in positions. I wish we had jobs for everyone. We help direct people to meetings, sites and organizations that we believe can help them, and we encourage and pray for all of them. I wanted to pass along this update so that should you encounter someone looking for support in a job search, you would have some positive news to share with them. And I hope you will continue to encourage people to attend our small group on Wednesday evening. We are there from 7:00 to 8:30 every week. Free coffee, and hugs as needed.
