Celebrating a Faithful and Fearless Knight!!
It is with full hearts that we say farewell to Ms. Cheryl Wood, our Assistant Principal, who is retiring from OCPS after 43 years of service in education. Throughout her 43 years, Ms. Wood has impacted the lives of many. Ms. Wood’s love for students and her enthusiasm for learning in a fun and meaningful way has shaped our science and elective departments here at Lake Nona Middle School for the past 5 years.

Ms. Wood’s journey in education started in Killeen, Texas as an 8th grade science teacher. She moved to Florida and her love for science continued for 10 years at Conway Middle School as a 7th grade science teacher. Her extensive science background took her to the Science Center for 4 years, but she just couldn’t stay away from OCPS and returned to Conway MS for 9 more years as a Learning Coach, Dean and Assistant Principal.

Five years ago Ms. Wood joined the Knight Kingdom as an Assistant Principal. In those five years, she has led the Science and Elective Departments with heart, enthusiasm and a true passion for learning. Ms. Wood’s impact on the students, staff and faculty here at LNMS is unmeasurable. From her 6th grade lunch bunch in the cafeteria, to attending student sporting events, STEAM Knights, SAC meetings, and tasting the food at the Sun Games.

Ms. Wood has dedicated her life to public service. We are humbled and honored to have worked alongside you and wish you a happy retirement full of travel, laughter and lifelong learning!
