Special Events / Reminders
Special Visitors to the Kingdom
Last week the Kingdom was visited by two Orlando Police mounted officers. One of the officers is our former SRO Joseph Bledsoe. Several staff members went out to visit and say hello to the officers and their horses.
Knight Athletics
Last week we concluded volleyball intramurals with a championship game and coaches vs all-stars game. The championship game went all the way to 3 sets with team Incrediballs defeating team Blockbusters in a fun filled game.

We also started soccer intramurals and had well over 80 students participate. Our head coaches, Mr. Rivera and Ms. Stoeckigt, have done a tremendous job with organizing evaluations and teams. We are looking forward to starting game play on the 22nd of February. There is a lot of talent here in the Kingdom and we are glad that our students are able to display it through intramurals.
Winners - The two teams who competed in the volleyball intramurals championship game.
Soccer - Evaluation for soccer intramurals have been under way.
Mock FSA Writing Test Coming Soon!
Our school will participate in a mock FSA writing test on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. The purpose of the mock FSA writing test is to engage all students in an authentic FSA-style writing task that will provide ELA teachers with meaningful writing data to inform instruction prior to FSA Writing on April 8th.

The mock FSA writing test will be administered in one 120-minute, uninterrupted session to all students. Due to this, we must make adjustments to our regular bell schedule. The adjusted bell schedule that will be used on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, is included below for your review so that you can make arrangements in advance, as needed, due to the early release of your student.

Please contact Roxanne Gill at in the event you have further questions.
Teacher of the Week Spotlight - Ms. Gabrielle Durant
Ms. Durant has just started teaching photography this year at Lake Nona Middle. However, she would prefer to teach 2nd grade considering that it is an easier and fun experience. Ms. Durant finds her favorite part of teaching is just connecting with the students and getting to know more about them such as their interests, what they enjoy doing, and etc. Before teaching at Lake Nona, Ms. Durant was an art teacher at TFA University.

Although Ms. Durant really enjoys teaching, she would also like to explore the world. If she was to go anywhere in the world it would be Thailand mainly to be able to see tigers, elephants and much more.
Student of the Week Spotlight - Peter Dang
Peter Dang is an 8th grade student. He loves US history but still believes that all his classes are beneficial to his education. He's been a Face-To-Face student since quarter one. Peter enjoys watching and playing football. He has a sister who is a senior attending Lake Nona High School. His big events are Fridays. They are the end of the school week and they come more often than any other holiday or event. Even with this pandemic around Peter says that it doesn't seem to be affecting his everyday life at home or at school.

Monday's Motivational Moment
Presidents Day is unique among American holidays in providing the opportunity to remember and appreciate why George Washington and Abraham Lincoln — whose birthdays fall in February — were the two greatest U.S. presidents.

While Washington was the founding father of the United States, Lincoln would later save the nation from division and collapse — bringing an end to the Civil War and the scourge of slavery. In short, Lincoln saved the republic that Washington made possible.

Inspirational quotes at President's Day 2021 by both presidents for our Knights:

Washington On Companionship
It is better to be alone than in bad company.
~ George Washington, 1st U.S. president

Washington On Persistence
Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages.
~ George Washington, 1st U.S. president

Abraham Lincoln On Lies
No man has a good enough memory to be a successful liar.
~ Abraham Lincoln, 16th U.S. president

Lincoln On Taking Action
The best way to predict the future is to create it.
~ Abraham Lincoln, 16th U.S. president

Happy Valentine's Day and Happy President's Day Knights!
