Rally Sunday, September 13th
Limited In-Person Worship Resumes
Welcome back is our normal greeting on Rally Sunday as worshipers return from summer sojourns across the country and around the world. But that is not the case in the midst of a global pandemic. Worship life, as well congregational activity, will just not be the same this fall. The staff is trying to organize our calendar around many of the traditional activities and festivals that have punctuated the program year, however, not everything will and can happen as it once did. Normal patterns will return again. We just need to remain patient and hopeful. If you need a reminder, see the corner stone for the church. It was laid in 1925, seven years after the last great pandemic in a decade that was described as roaring. One of the initial steps for normal congregational life will be on Rally Sunday when limited in-person worship resumes. Throughout the month of August we have been preparing and practicing for this day. We have been adjusting the sound and camera so that we can go live on Rally Sunday on YouTube as well. The Protocol for In-Person Worship at Lake of the Isles that we have followed this past month has allowed worshipers to feel comfortable and safe in the church Sanctuary. This will continue with registration in advance, masks and social distancing. We will keep the worship attendance capped at 40 people, in addition to the Corona Chorus. This represents about 20% of Sanctuary's seating capacity. And what would Rally Day at Lake of the Isles be without Dixieland music? Sadly, the late John Madson can no longer lead us in music together with the Starry Night Quartet, but the Zuhrah Shrine Dixie Kats will perform as a part of our Rally Sunday service. Yes, there will be a little bit of the familiar-- even in these new times. Whether in person or online-- Welcome back to Lake of the Isles. Peace, Pastor Arden Haug |

On April 27, Our Saviour's Housing notified us that
they are no longer able to receive meals for the shelter from volunteer providers.
If you would still like to support Our Saviour's Housing during the COVID-19 pandemic, consider the best option possible at this time...convert your meal into a financial donation. The suggested amount is $250.
We have scheduled volunteers until the end of the year. Consider signing up for a month in 2021. To do so, contact Cheri Moe, (952) 431-5226 or Linda Nelson (612) 377- 5095.
Thrivent members are eligible to apply for a Thrivent Action Grant to cover the cost of the meal and purchase supplies for Our Saviour's Housing continuing needs. Donation of the grant by Thrivent members, who are unable to make and/or serve the meal is much appreciated! Grant processing is 4-6 weeks.
Our Saviour's Housing is in need of additional funding for COVID-related costs, such as hazard and overtime pay, cleaning supplies, hygiene supplies, personal protective equipment, and increased facilities usage. oscs-mn.org/donate/

Women's Bible Study
Another season is just around the corner. We hope you're ready for more great conversations, sharing, and learning about how we can apply scripture to today's world and our own lives.
Our text will be First Corinthians: Living Love When We Disagree by Melissa Spoelstra. ISBN 978-1-5018-0168-6,
available on amazon.com in paperback or Kindle, or at local booksellers. (If you would like Linda to order the book for you, contact her by Thursday, September 3. Cost is $13.59.)
Relationships are messy. Sometimes we struggle to get along, especially when there is disagreement. Often we find ourselves
divided--even as Christians. How can we work out our differences
and disagreements with humility and grace
always showing the love of Christ, while still remaining true to what we believe?
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Christians living in Corinth about this very thing. The cultural backdrop of Corinth was even more over tly sinful than our culture today, yet Paul boldly encouraged the Corinthian Christians not to ridicule one another or outsiders but to work together to show the love of Christ.
In this study we will explore Paul's first letter to the Corinthians to learn how we as Christians are to deal with differences and divisions--whether in the workplace, neighborhood, school, home, social media community, or church.
We'll discover that the answer is living and sharing the radical love
of Jesus Christ, and we'll unpack what this means and how we can
live it out day by day.
Until we can meet in person, our Bible Study will be online via Zoom. We begin on Thursday, September 17, at 7:00pm. We'll continue on 1st & 3rd Thursdays.
Contact Deb Gilroy if you would like to be added to our participants list. She will email Zoom invitations for our sessions.
We look forward to seeing you again soon. Please feel free to invite others. All are welcome!

| September's Selection...
When King Hezekiah discovers that God's Law forbids him to take multiple wives, he must choose one woman to love. He must also choose to trust God's promises when he decides to rebel against his powerful Assyrian overlords. Hezekiah seeks to strengthen his nation's fortifications by building a tunnel to Jerusalem to hide his water supply. The tension mounts as the Assyrians march closer--and Hezekiah's tunnel remains incomplete. With his officials advising him to submit to the Assyrians, Hezekiah's faith is once more severely tested.Previously published as The Lord is My Song.

Fellowship Hall Exhibition
Kay Christianson served for over 30 years in executive management at Minnesota corporations and nonprofits, including NCS/Pearson, LearningByte International, and Children's Cancer Research Fund. Throughout her years of employment, her love of photography was always a vital part of her life. From the early days of having her own darkroom and working with black and white images to her current work with digital photography, Kay's work has always been inspired by nature. Now retired, she developed her Enlightened by Nature Photographic Portfolio. This collection has been created from the many kayaking, backpacking, hiking, cross country skiing, and running adventures that she has had and continues to experience. As she says: It is always such a delightful surprise to take a turn in the forest or paddle around a bay and discover the next unforgettable view of nature. Her work has been exhibited and sold at art institutes, galleries and cafes in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Her work has received numerous awards including first place in the 2019 Minnesota Parks and Trails Photo Contest.
She is honored to be invited to exhibit at LOTI.
