Holy Week  at Lake of the Isles
April 14th - April 21st

Palm Sunday traditionally marks the beginning of Holy Week. According to scripture "green branches were cut from the trees and placed on the road" as Jesus entered into the city. In Jewish tradition, palms had often been associated with victory. The crowds shouted, "Hosanna" which means God save us. It was a festive day as pilgrims from all around the Mediterranean Sea gathered to celebrate the week of Passover.

Our Palm Sunday Service at Lake of the Isles on Sunday, April 14th at 9:30 am will be a festive day as well. The Sunday School children will process with their palms. The service will include a choral reading of the Passion Story According to St. Luke woven together with the favorite Lenten hymns. A small ensemble will also play hand chimes as a part of the service.
Immediately following the worship service, Don Holzschuh will be serving a family style pancake breakfast. Guests will be ushered to tables, and pancakes will be delivered fresh off the griddle to the tables. Proceeds will benefit the Lake of the Isles Camp Scholarship Fund.
During the pancake breakfast, the children will be invited to the Parsonage for an Easter egg hunt. They will be divided into two groups of pre-school aged and Sunday School aged children.

On Thursday, April 18th at 6:00 pm,we will be holding a Seder Meal to mark Maundy Thursday. All are invited. Please help us prepare for this meal by contacting the church office .

Good Friday, April 19th  at 7:00pm commemorates Jesus' death on the cross. The evening worship service lead by the choir will mark in readings and music Jesus' journey to the cross and his burial in the tomb.

The Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 20th at 8:30pm celebrates the mystery of the resurrection and the promises given to those baptized into Christ's death. The worship service begins outside and moves into darkened church where the stories of salvation are read. The service concludes by breaking the fast with champagne and hot cross buns.

Two worship services will be held on Easter Sunday, April 21th at 9:30am and 11:00am to celebrate Christ's resurrection from the dead. The choir and guest musicians will perform at both services. A Scandinavian Easter Brunch will be served at 12:00 noon. Reservations are available through the church office.

Join us in worship for our Holy Week journey of renewal and new life to Easter!

Peace, Pastor Arden Haug

Women's Bible Study
Our Spring 2019 Session begins this month.
The text is Finding Joy When Life is Out of Focus: a Study for Joy-Thirsty Women
by Angela Donadio.
We all walk through seasons when joy plays an unwelcome game of Hide and Seek. Disappointment, worry, and adversity blur our lens on life, sabotaging our ability to develop the meaningful relationships we long for and realize our worth in Christ.
Finding Joy When Life is Out of Focus will help you choose contentment regardless of circumstance, transform faulty thought patterns through the truth of God's Word, and persevere when life is unraveling.
We meet at 7:00pm in the Library.

Pricing is flexible. Space is limited. Call to reserve your spot in the canoe! (715)364-2602

For ages 11 and up, and perfect for any experience level, the Namekagon and St. Croix Rivers have something for everyone. Beautiful wildlife, remote campsites, and a peaceful meandering river. Travel with us beside quiet waters, and restore your soul.
Flambeau River Ramble, June 23-26
An intermediate paddling route for ages 11 and up, the Flambeau River Ramble is great for those who would like to try their first forays into white-water canoeing. Women's Glamping, August 22-25
For adult women only. Camp Amnicon is offering for the first time ever a more comfortable and sophisticated camping experience. We'll still sleep in tents, but they'll be huge canvass tents with real mattresses and bed frames. We'll still cook and eat outside, but with a style and quality rarely associated with the outdoors. We'll still hike, swim, and paddle, but only as far as we'd like to, because camping can be glamorous after all.
See you at camp!
