Dear Laker Community,
Windermere Prep’s theatre program provides a vibrant and inclusive space for students to shine on stage and behind the scenes. As a learning community pursuing authorization as an IB World School, we encourage students to be inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring individuals who promote intercultural understanding through both academics and the arts.
This week, we are excited to present Mamma Mia!, a vibrant and heartwarming musical featuring ABBA’s iconic hits like “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia". Set on a picturesque Greek island, the story follows Sophie, played by junior Elliott Davidoff, as she prepares for her wedding to Sky, portrayed by Dominic Tarantino. Eager to uncover the identity of her father, Sophie secretly invites three men from her mother Donna’s past to the wedding. Donna, played by junior Sarah Jordan, is reunited with her former lovers, played by Dan Goebel Guzman, Garrett Rivera, and Chase Croft. Through the chaos and joy that follows, Sophie learns that family isn’t just about biological ties—it’s about love, connection, and the bonds we choose to create.
Our production proudly showcases 30 incredible student performers and a dedicated crew of 15 students, all working together to bring this beloved musical to life. We are especially excited to feature the work of student scenic designer Zara Lwin, marking the first time a student has led set design for a WPS musical.
Working on Mamma Mia! has been such a rewarding experience, thanks to the combined efforts of our collaborative and dedicated team. I’ve had the chance to direct and choreograph the show, with the support from assistant director, Jacqueline Blimline. We’ve also had the expertise of Allison Baron in choreography, Nick Prowse in technical direction, and Ledean Williams in music direction. We’ve all worked closely to create a polished and cohesive production, where each element is thoughtfully crafted to complement the others.
We hope to perform three sold-out shows starting today, April 10 at 7 PM, tomorrow, April 11 at 7 PM, and Saturday, April 12 at 2 PM. Following the final performance on Saturday, we will honor our 11 outstanding senior cast and crew members in a special recognition ceremony, celebrating their contributions to our growing program.
These talented students bring energy, passion, and joy to the stage, and we can’t wait to share this unforgettable experience with you, our Windermere Prep community! Tickets are available at www.teachtix.com/wps.
