Dear Laker Community,
We invite you to set sail with the WPS High School Theatre Department as we bring the musical Anything Goes to life. Led by a dedicated company of 50 cast and crew members, this final production of the 2025–2026 school year features the music and lyrics of legendary composer, Cole Porter. Audiences can expect shipboard antics, energetic choreography, and classic songs that have helped define Broadway for generations.
To support the IB Theatre emphasis on developing well-rounded, reflective artists, co-curricular productions like Anything Goes allow students to apply classroom learning in a performance setting. WPS theatre students explore a wide range of theatrical styles, strengthening their growth as balanced performers. In this production, students draw upon their cross-disciplinary understanding of the 1930s, incorporating tap, jazz, and ballroom dance, slapstick comedy, and musical theatre performance into a cohesive stage experience.
Originally performed on Broadway in 1934, this revival follows Billy Crocker (Chase Croft), who stows away aboard an ocean liner in hopes of winning the heart of Hope Harcourt (Elliott Davidoff). Unbeknownst to him, Hope is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakley (Garrett Rivera), an arrangement intended to secure her family’s financial future. Hope’s mother, Mrs. Evangeline Harcourt (Rachel Dowling), and family associate, Elisha Whitney (Saavan Ohri), reflect the social and financial pressures surrounding the engagement.
As Billy navigates life undercover at sea, he receives assistance from Reno Sweeney (Sarah Jordan), an evangelist-turned-nightclub singer, and Moonface Martin (Jacen McCormick), a gangster posing as a clergyman, along with his sidekick Erma (Ava Curtis). Their schemes, disguises, and misadventures drive a fast-paced story filled with mistaken identities and romantic entanglements. Led by Stage Manager, Riley McKenzie, and assisted by Leticia Menezes, Anything Goes promises to be a high-energy performance with comedic charm.
As director and choreographer, working on Anything Goes with an exceptional team has been a rewarding collaborative experience. Assistant Director Jacqueline Blimline, along with Technical Director and Scenic Designer Nick Prowse, assisted by Nick Boucher, have been integral to the process. Together, the team has collaborated closely, supporting students and helping them bring their best work to the stage.
We look forward to three performances on April 16 and 17 at 7 PM, and April 18 at 2 PM, and are excited to share this classic production with our WPS community.
Tickets are available at teachtix.com/wps. We look forward to seeing you there!
