Dear Laker Community,
Last week, we shared the news that I have been appointed Head of School at Windermere Preparatory School. I want to express how honored and grateful I am for the opportunity to continue serving this extraordinary community.
Windermere Prep is a truly special place. Every day, I am inspired by our students’ character and talent, our families’ trust and partnership, and our faculty and staff’s unwavering dedication to nurturing excellence, growth, and belonging. Together, we are a beautifully diverse global community united by a shared purpose: helping our students discover who they are, developing their talents, and making a positive difference in the world.
As we reach the end of the third quarter and head into spring break, I’ve been reflecting on the extraordinary successes across our campus. Every day, our students ask important questions, create boldly, compete with pride, and serve others both locally and around the world. They remind us why this work matters.
In the years ahead, we will continue building on the strength of our International Baccalaureate program, expanding opportunities for creativity, inquiry, and leadership across every stage of the student journey.
At the same time, we remain committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, supported, and known. This includes strengthening our focus on safeguarding and student wellbeing, both within our school community and in the increasingly complex digital world our students navigate.
Thank you for the trust you place in our school and in me. It is the greatest privilege of my professional life to serve as your Head of School.
I hope spring break provides a chance for everyone to rest, spend time with loved ones, and recharge for the final stretch of the school year. I look forward to welcoming everyone back as we begin the final quarter together.
With gratitude and excitement for the future,
Alex Birchenall
Head of School
