Dear Laker Community,

At last Friday’s Homecoming game, we invited our Laker alumni back home. This is always a special moment for our community as we reconnect with recent graduates and learn how their lives are unfolding at college and beyond. I treasure how our graduates take with them the spirit of inquiry developed at Windermere Prep as they embark on new adventures. Even though they have moved on, they are always Lakers and we continue to celebrate them.

Next time you visit the Cypress Center for the Arts, I invite you to check out the IB Diploma Program wall in the Studio U atrium. Here, we honor Lakers from the class of 2025 who earned 6s and 7s on their IB exams. Every year, this display grows. Our graduates inspire our younger Lakers, and each group of students strives to push the bar higher as they pursue their own passions to build the best versions of themselves for the global community.

That pursuit of passion fuels the inquiry mindset at the heart of a Windermere Prep education on the field, in the classroom, on the stage, in the local community, and beyond. Here on campus, we have more students pursuing the IB full diploma than ever before. We’ve added eight IB DP courses over the past two years to expand student opportunities, and in May, we will graduate our inaugural class of Laker Learner Concentration candidates.

Behind the scenes, our teachers are exploring best practices in assessment so that our students have incredible and enriching opportunities to show what they know, what they can do, and how they will help build a better world. Meanwhile, as IB Diploma Program Coordinator, I am preparing our 5-year IB DP Program Evaluation, a reflective study in which we inquire into how we deliver the DP and how we evolve to ensure that our courses connect world class content, authentic contexts, and essential skills in rich learning experiences that put our Lakers at the center of their learning.

For families of students in grades 6-10, to learn more about WPS’s high school graduation pathways, please join us for IB 201: Diploma and Laker Learner Concentration Info Night. Inquire with me into the opportunities available for our Lakers here at Windermere Prep!

Our Admissions Office encourages all current Laker families interested in applying for an additional child (not currently attending WPS) for the 2026-27 school year to submit your application by Friday, November 14 to be placed on the priority list.

Please note: This only applies to NEW students and not current students. Do not submit an application if your child is currently enrolled at Windermere Prep. This is not re-enrollment.

We have already received numerous applications, and we are expecting to reach full capacity again this year, so it is important to complete the full application process now.

As a current family, you will be placed on the priority list if seats become available and your child meets the admissions requirements. Although applying now will get you on the priority list, there are no guarantees of admission.

It’s almost time for the First WPVA Trunk or Treat event!

Join us tomorrow, October 24 from 5:30-7:30 PM for a festive night filled with games, music, bubbles, a photo booth, and delicious eats from Banditos Taco Truck and Brick & Ember Pizza! Then grab your blankets and chairs for a showing of Hocus Pocus at 7:30 PM and don’t miss out on the special souvenir popcorn buckets on sale by the WPVA!

Come dressed festively and ready for fun with our Laker community!

Please note: This is a WPS-only event, not open to the greater Central Florida community.
