This year, we are expanding our celebration beyond the classroom by introducing Día de los Muertos through specially designed lessons in our Living the Crest classes. These lessons give students the opportunity to learn about the cultural origins, traditions, symbolism, and significance of this holiday. By exploring its history and the meaningful ways families and communities honor their loved ones, students are encouraged to approach the celebration with curiosity, understanding, and respect for the cultural traditions that shape our world.
In preparation for this celebration, students across divisions and disciplines have been exploring the history, cultural significance, artistic elements, and symbolism of Día de los Muertos. Through their creativity and thoughtful inquiry, they have developed original works that reflect their learning and interpretations of this vibrant tradition.
We warmly invite the Laker community to experience our annual Día de los Muertos Student Art Exhibit on Tuesday, November 3, and Wednesday, November 4, in the Cypress Center atrium. The exhibit will showcase student artwork from across divisions and subject areas, along with interactive experiences designed to engage Lakers of all ages. Together, these contributions offer an opportunity to celebrate student creativity, deepen our cultural understanding, and recognize the many ways art, education, and tradition bring communities together.
We look forward to welcoming you to this special celebration of learning, creativity, and cultural appreciation. Thank you for supporting our students as they continue to grow into curious, thoughtful, and globally minded citizens.
¡Los esperamos! We hope to see you there!
