MEMBER NEWS ...
SEND US YOUR GOOD NEWS TO SHARE HERE!!!

Under the members doing good works caetegory, we give a shout out to Amy Lazare with Monat Global!
While her team does various good works throughout the year, the beginning of December is very special in her company. They declare it gratitude week and across US, Canada and now UK they collaborate with their teams to do good things for others. Her team participated with the Detroit Chapter of Optimist International for a big Toy Drive. The toys are delivered to parents that are being treated at the Karmanos cancer institute in Detroit so they can make Christmas special for their children. It is a special double "feel good" whammy!
So, after winning the 50/50 raffle at our Lakes Area Chamber Christmas party she used the money to supply even more toys this year for the children. Thanks for paying it forward!

Henry Ford Health System’s five acute-care hospitals each earned an A grade for
patient safety
performance in The Leapfrog Group’s safety grades.
This achievement marks the first time the hospitals have collectively earned the top safety grade in The Leapfrog Group’s bi-annual safety grades. By doing so, Henry Ford is one of only two health systems nationally – and the only one in Michigan – to achieve that distinction for the fall safety grades.
Hospitals that received an A grade are:
“This is a momentous achievement for our hospitals and the entire Henry Ford organization,” says
Wright Lassiter III, Henry Ford’s president and CEO
. “The safety of our patients is our most important priority and the focus of every interaction, every decision and every patient-care plan. I’m extremely proud of our team members and our hospitals for their exceptional performance and collaboration in keeping our patients safe in our care.”
Twice a year, grades are assigned to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals using a scoring algorithm to determine each hospital’s score as an A, B, C, D or F letter grade. The grade is a composite score comprising 28 different nationally reported patient safety measures that indicate how well hospitals protect patients from preventable errors, injuries and infections.
“We strive to create an environment that keeps our patients safe and ultimately, results in the best health outcomes possible,” says
Adnan Munkarah, M.D., Henry Ford’s chief clinical officer
. “These top safety grades reflect our team members’ commitment and passion to create that environment.”

The Huron Valley Optimist’s presented a $1,000 donation to the U CAN-CER VIVE Foundation Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Representatives from HVO and the U CAN-CER VIVE met at the LaFontaine Auto Dealership where HVO President Mary Hydorn proudly presented the donation.
“The Huron Valley Optimist’s have always enjoyed donating to many local children’s causes including children and families with cancer. We wanted to support a Huron Valley Optimist member’s organization to help find a cure for cancer and 100% of this donation goes to families in Michigan” said Mary Hydorn, HVO President.
“Huron Valley Optimist’s generosity is going directly to local hospital cancer research grants. Our mission is to give everyone a fighting chance, and to one day find the cure for cancer.” Said U CAN-CER VIVE Co-founder Kelley LaFontaine. U CAN-CER VIVE goes above and beyond as a non-profit and donates 100% of their proceeds go towards funding cancer research in Michigan.
