Dear Friends,

I am very pleased to report the complete repaving of several portions of Lakeview Avenue as follows:

Lakeview Avenue, between Wrightwood Avenue and Diversey Parkway

Lakeview Avenue, between Roslyn Place and St. James Place

As you know, the historic winter weather took a significant toll on our local infrastructure. Given the significant traffic that these portions of Lakeview Avenue experience every day, I authorized the use of Aldermanic Menu Funding, a local infrastructure budget available to each member of the Chicago City Council, to expedite the repairs to this street this summer.

These photos show the before and after conditions of the street.

I continue to work with the City's Department of Transportation to repair the portions of the 43rd Ward that experienced substantial deterioration this winter.  I will continue to keep you apprised of the status on these improvements via my e-newsletter as we make continued progress in the coming weeks!

Pride Parade Street Closures

The 45th Annual Pride Parade will take place this Sunday, June 29th!

To prepare for the parade, the following streets will be completely closed 5:00 am on Sunday, June 29th.  Cars will be towed!

Cannon Drive, from Fullerton Parkway to Diversey Parkway

Diversey Parkway, from Broadway to Sheridan Road/Lake Shore Drive

To view a full rendering of the parade route and street closures, please click here.

Over 1 million people are expected to attend this annual event. Traffic is expected to be heavily congested in surrounding side streets during, and for a short period after, the parade occurs.

While the Chicago Police Department has allocated significant resources to assist in traffic management and to ensure safety, please walk or take public transportation on the day of the parade, and allow extra time for travel.

March with Us in the Pride Parade!

March with me in the Pride Parade this Sunday!  The parade will certainly be a celebration of marriage equality, now the law in Illinois.

All are welcome to join in this exciting event.  Please email Tracy at [email protected] to let us know you'll be coming and receive updates as to location and logistics.

We'll be meeting at the corner of Montrose and Broadway at 11:30am. Let's celebrate together!

Sincerely,

Michele Signature
