Your Lakeview East Guide To Pride is Here
As Pride Month Comes to an End, The Party Has Just Begun
We are proud to be Chicago's largest LGBTQ+ Owned business district. While Pride Month happens in June, we are proud year-round to support our small businesses! There are so many ways to celebrate the close of pride month, so we have picked some of the best spots for you to shop, eat, drink, and support this Pride Month! Many places are donating a portion of their proceeds to local LGBTQ+ non-profits so you can be sure your local shopping supports incredible causes.
We are Sponsoring the Second City Outlaws for the Parade!
The Second City Outlaws welcome you to be a part of the Pride parade march in celebration of the fun and fabulous LGBTQ+ diversity with the largest pride event of the year. If you'd like to walk in the parade with the Second City Outlaws, click here!
The Second City Outlaws are an organization sponsored by Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce that takes great PRIDE in being a Mainstream Country Dancing Performing Group that is OPEN and Inclusive to ALL Country Dancers regardless of age, race or gender identity throughout Chicagoland.

PARADE STREET CLOSURE NOTICE
The parade will begin at noon and it is anticipated to end by 4pm.
Street closures will begin at 10:30am on the 26th at Montrose and Broadway. There will then be rolling closures down the length of the parade route until the entire route is closed down by 12pm. Streets will stay closed until approximately 7pm.
Remembering Richard Pfeiffer
This year's parade will be dedicated to the memory of Richard William Pfeiffer, coordinator of the annual Chicago Pride Parade since 1974. He passed away Oct. 6, 2019, at the age of 70
Richard was a Chicago gay rights icon, pride parade maverick of over 45 years, member of Chicago's Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame, and an endless advocate for the LGBTQ+ Community. Richard's impact on the city of Chicago, the LGBTQ+ Rights Movement, and our own local community will be cherished and honored forever.

Robert Jeffrey Salon Has New Owners!
Robert LaMorte has passed down his salon to his son Jeffrey LaMorte and his partner Kelly Glester. Robert has created a brand built on creativity and technical skills which seamlessly blends with the Jeffrey LaMorte salons’ history and culture. A Chicago native, Jeffrey received his early training from his father, Robert, who he credits as the greatest influence on his career. Jeffrey went on to advanced training at the prestigious Vidal Sassoon Academy in London followed by additional training at TONI&GUY, Trevor Sorbie, Rusk, Eclipse and many others. As an industry leader, Jeffrey believes in nurturing his staff’s abilities through continued education and training. Most recently, Jeffrey opened ACADEMY, an education and training facility where his staff regularly trains to sharpen their skill. We hope you stop by and welcome the new owners of Robert Jeffrey Salon to the neighborhood.

The friendly confines are welcoming their doors to Dead and Company on Friday and Saturday! Featuring original Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart along with John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti, get ready to jam this weekend as they bring their eclectic music to the neighborhood

Irish Oak Will Be Closing on July 3rd
After years of change on Clark Street, all good things must come to an end. Irish Oak will be closing on July 3rd after nearly 3 decades on Clark Street. Beginning as a neighborhood bar and eventually expanding and renovating over the years, bringing in fun community events like their Wingo Bingo and live music, this longstanding business has made memories for our neighbors and tourists alike over the years. The Irish Oak will be remembered as one of the neighborhood's most authentic pubs to snag a "perfect" pint of Guinness. We are thankful for their friendship and support over the years and are wishing all the wonderful staff the best of luck on their next adventure
It's Happening, Scooters are BACK!
Divvy, Lime, Spin and Superpedestrian scooters have officially hit the street in the neighborhood! This exciting and convenient form of transit is now available for rental but they must be locked up at the end of trips, hopefully leading to a better system of shared scooter rental. While the scooters will be rolling out progressively over the next few weeks, we want to encourage our neighbors to wear helmets, abide by rules of traffic, and to be safe while scooting around the neighborhood

CHICAGO’S MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE AND FAIR WORKWEEK CHANGES GO INTO EFFECT JULY 1, 2022
Minimum Wage Increases to $15.40 and Fair Workweek Advance Notice Requirement for Changes to Work Schedules Increases to 14 days Improving the Economic Security and Stability for over 400,000 Chicago Workers
Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot and the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) announced the annual scheduled increase in Chicago’s minimum wage and a scheduled enhancement of the Fair Workweek ordinance requirements.

Every July 1, Chicago’s minimum wage increases per the Minimum Wage Ordinance. The Chicago minimum wage is tiered for large businesses with 21 or more employees, and small businesses with 4-20 employees. The minimum wage for larger employees increases annually according to the Consumer Price Index or 2.5%, whichever is lower, since reaching $15 per hour in 2021. The minimum wage for small businesses continues to increase towards $15 per hour by 2023.

As of July 1, 2022, the Chicago minimum wage will be:
·     $15.40 for employers with 21 or more employees (including all domestic workers, regardless of the number employed)
·    $14.50 for employers with 4-20 employees
·    The minimum wage for tipped employees will be $9.24 for employers with 21 or more employees, and $8.70 for employers with 4-20 employees (employers must make up the difference between any tips received and the applicable minimum wage for non-tipped workers.)

As of July 1, 2022, scheduled enhancements to the Fair Workweek Ordinance will require:
·    Employers in covered industries to post work schedules with at least 14 days’ notice, an increase from the previous 10 days’ notice.
·    Employees will need to earn less than $29.35 per hour or $56,381.85 per year to gain protection under the Fair Workweek Ordinance.
·    Covered industries include building services, healthcare, hotel, manufacturing, restaurant, retail, or warehouse services.

Register Your Camera with The City Of Chicago
The City of Chicago has launched a free and voluntary camera registration program open to anyone who lives or operates a business in Chicago. If you have a private security camera that captures the public way and you are interested in assisting in an investigation in the event of a crime in your neighborhood, you can register your camera with the Chicago Police Department.

By registering your camera, you are simply allowing the Chicago Police Department to contact you in the event of a crime in your area. The Chicago Police Department will not have direct access to your camera system and cannot access camera footage without your consent. There is no requirement to provide footage at any time.
Noise Ordinance for Businesses
While everyone is itching to enjoy outdoor patios and live music, we'd like to remind our businesses that per Municipal Code of Chicago, 8-32-070, ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS must be closed at 10pm when they have live or amplified music, which includes open-rooftops.
Upcoming Promotions
The JCC in conjunction with the Aikido International Foundation and the Japanese Arts Foundation is hosting a free kimono exhibition.

The Japanese Culture Center, Japanese Arts Foundation, and Aikido International Foundation sponsor an annual public exhibition featuring pieces from its kimono collection. At its heart is the Nakashima Kimono and Obi Collection.
