AIDS Garden Grand Opening
Official Grand Opening of
AIDS Garden Chicago
June 2, 2022 at 10:00AM
at the Lakefront just south of Belmont Harbor.

After breaking ground in 2019, the AIDs Garden at Belmont Harbor is officially completed! We invite the community to gather and enjoy our newest park.

This historic spot is where the Belmont Rocks once were, which was a space the gay community from the 1960s to the late ’90s could gather proudly, socialize, and meet other LGBTQ+ folks in the light of day. The new garden strives to commemorate the lives of those lost in the epidemic and become a new green space in the community and for the city as a whole.
