Summer Events Are Back!
The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that The Belmont Sheffield Music Festival and The Festival of the Arts are returning this summer! After a long year without some of our favorite neighborhood events, we are excited to have local art and music taking over the streets once again.

As Chicago has reopened to full capacity for dining, we still fully want to support our local businesses to make up for lost time during the pandemic. With so many dining and retail options on Broadway and Sheffield, we hope to keep supporting our neighborhood businesses with these events and are now bringing live entertainment to the streets! 

Sidewalk patios will be extended into the street, and there will be communal tables
set up on Broadway for those who would like to do carry-out.

As local businesses continue to reopen in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we know many folks are itching to get out and see something new but might not be comfortable traveling just yet.

With this in mind, the Lakeview East Chamber is launching a campaign for residents and visitors alike to experience their own “staycation” right here in the beautiful Lakeview East neighborhood!

Once you have your Staycation Passport, you’re ready to hit the neighborhood and start collecting signatures.

Simply present your coupons to the participating business of your choice, they’ll sign off on their Passport coupon, you’ll cash in on a great deal, and then be able to look back on all the small, local businesses you helped support during a time when they need it most.

New Chicago U.S. Bank branch celebrates the LGBTQ+ community
We're celebrating the grand opening of a new U.S. Bank branch at 3214 N. Broadway Street serving the Lakeview East neighborhood! The new branch is the bank’s fourth LGBTQ+ flagship location and the first in Chicago, joining others in West Hollywood in Los Angeles; Capitol Hill in Seattle, and the Castro in San Francisco.

The location features the latest technology, as well as year-round, Pride-themed artwork and a community room available to be used by nearby nonprofits and small businesses – many of which are focused on serving or led by members of the LGBTQ+ community. To mark the grand opening, U.S. Bank made a $2,000 donation to Center on Halsted, a nonprofit LGBTQ+ community center in Chicago, to specifically support Black and Latinx transgender youth.

Upcoming Promotions
AFS is looking for host families!
AFS is a non-profit organization that has been facilitating high school exchange programs for over 70 years with the mission of creating a more just and peaceful world. They are accredited by CSIET (Council on Standards for International Educational Travel) and they partner with the US Department of State to run several scholarship programs for high school students.

AFS currently has 17 high school students coming to the Greater Chicago area this fall for the 2021-2022 school year and are looking for host families.

Movement Gym Opening This Fall
Movement, located at 1150 W. Addison St, will be opening this fall. This brand new, state of the art climbing, yoga, and fitness center will have a sauna and many more amenities. Movement is a three-story, 43,000-square-foot facility is designed for those in Chicago who love adventure and fitness and want a place where they can come together and share their passion for climbing.

Gallagher Way
Wiggleworms at Gallagher Way
The legendary Old Town School of Folk Music will host 45-minute morning music programs each Tuesday from July 6 through September 28 at 10 a.m. Following the music program, guests can enjoy a variety of family-friendly movies on the video board, starting at 11 a.m. each Tuesday.​​
French Market at Gallagher Way
Gallagher Way will host the French Market on select Thursday evenings from July 15 through September 30, starting at 4 p.m. The European-inspired market features 20 vendors, including a mixture of specialty foods, crafts and artisanal goods, along with live music and a new kid-friendly craft booth. 
Fitness Series Presented by Advocate Health Care at Gallagher Way
Presented by Advocate Health Care, the Fitness Series at Gallagher Way kicks off July 5 and runs through September 29, with free weekly outdoor fitness classes for the community, including HIIT and Social Run Club with CrossTown Fitness, and Yoga with Five Keys Yoga.
Movies at Gallagher Way
Lakeview’s historic Music Box Theatre will host seven free movies at Gallagher Way, beginning at 7:30 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at each showing from surrounding restaurants and on-site concessions stands. CAPS Meetings - Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy
What's on in the Belmont Theater District?
Just minutes from downtown in Chicago's Lakeview and Lakeview East neighborhoods, the Belmont Theater District is home to more than 50 theaters and hundreds of shops and restaurants within a short walking distance.

Amidst recent suspension of group gatherings and, thus, live performances, many Belmont District Theaters have opted into providing digital, remote and streaming programming for patrons to enjoy from the comfort of their own homes.
Community Developments
New Development Planned for 3160 N. Broadway
Seminary Properties and Management, Ltd. is planning to redevelop the 3160-2 N Broadway property with a transit-oriented, mixed use development. The project consists of 17 units, 6 parking spaces, 17 bicycle parking spaces, and ground floor retail/commercial space. The building will be 4 stories with a partial 5th floor.
The top floor is set back 15 feet from the Broadway property line and 60 feet from the rear property line. Floors 2 through 4 are also set back 30 feet from the rear property line.

In order to preserve the historic elements of the existing building, the existing terra cotta accents, sill courses, cornice and coping pieces will be reused in the façade of the proposed building. The remainder of the building will be masonry.
