In Memory of Dan Wolf, Owner of The Bagel and Long Time Community Advocate
|
It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that long time local business owner of The Bagel, Dan Wolf, has passed away. Danny was instrumental in growing The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce and served on the Special Service Area Commission for over 30 years. His dedication to the neighborhood has made a profound impact on our business community for years to come.
Dan was one of the few child survivors of the Theresienstadt concentration camp, and when he came to America, he began working in his grandparents restaurant, The Bagel in Albany Park which brought old world recipes to the states. He brought The Bagel to Lakeview East and he has since become a fixture in our community, bringing people together over incredible food, open doors, and great company over the last 70 years in business. We mourn the loss of Dan Wolf and we are thankful for all he has taught us, all the memories our community has made because of his tireless work, and his endless dedication to helping those in need. Dan is survived by his companion and spouse of over 60 years Mitchell Kaufman.
