Chicago Marathon Returns October 9th
Chicago Marathon Returns October 9th
Tens of thousands of runners are preparing to step off next month for the 44th Bank of America Chicago Marathon, the city's biggest racing event and one of the six World Marathon Majors.
Streets in the neighborhood may be closed to traffic as an anticipated 40,000 participants pass through the area starting at 
7:00 a.m. and continuing to 4 p.m. A comprehensive list of street closures and their approximate reopening is available at chicagomarathon.com/street closures, access to other streets in the area not directly on the course may be effected during this timeframe.
No parking will be allowed on the Marathon course. Towing of vehicles on the course will begin at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 9, 
2022. Vehicles that are not removed from the street by that time will be ticketed and towed to the nearest auto pound.

Food Service Sanitation Managers Certification Class
Center on Halsted | October 3rd | 9AM - 5PM
Join us at the Center on Halsted on October 3rd from 9AM - 5PM for the Food Safety & Sanitation Manager Class hosted by the Safe Dining Association. The Food Safety Manager Certification credential communicates to the food service and retail industry that you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to oversee the safe storage, preparation, and service of food in the workplace.
The Food Safety Certification class will consist of 1 eight hour day of instruction with the exam being given at the end of the class. This class and exam is fully accredited with the Illinois Department of Public Health, Chicago Department of Public Health, Prometric Testing Organization and ServSafe from the National Restaurant Association (administered by request). Upon successful completion of the class and test students will be certified in the State of Illinois and will be able to apply for the City of Chicago certification.

Gallagher Way to Host A League of Their Own Film 30th Anniversary Showing
The Chicago Cubs will host a celebration for the 30th anniversary of the baseball classic, “A League of Their Own,” at Wrigley Field and Gallagher Way Thursday, September 29.

“A League of Their Own” is a 1992 film that tells a fictional account of the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and the Rockford Peaches. Fans interested in watching the hit film are able to attend a free screening at Gallagher Way at 7 p.m. CDT. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and the first 800 early arriving fans will be eligible to receive a limited-edition commemorative hat. Prior to the screening, fans can take part in a Q&A discussion at 6:30 p.m. with cast members Megan Cavanagh, Ann Cusack, Patti Pelton, Anne Ramsay and Tracy Reiner.

Deuce's Nightmare on Clark Street set to open October 1st
Feeling spooky? Creep it real at the much-loved, immersive and over-the-top pop-up venue Deuce’s Major League Bar’s, Nightmare on Clark St returns to the Wrigleyville neighborhood at 3505 N Clark Street! This annual pop up is a fun take over of one of Clark Street's favorite hang outs.


Johnnie Walker Blending Lab + Happy Hour Announced at Mordecai
Join Mordecai Chicago (3632 N. Clark St) as they team up with Johnnie Walker for a one-night-only event on Tuesday, October 11th. Here, you will become a master blender by recreating the unrivaled Johnnie Walker Black. The night will kick off at 5:30 PM with an hour-long happy hour of light bites and cocktails brought to you by Mordecai’s bar and kitchen. Widely celebrated Master Educator John Henderson will then lead the group in a grain to bottle education session, detailing the captivating process of blending Scotch. Guests will graduate as master blenders at 7:30 PM and will split into groups as they compete to recreate the Johnnie Walker Black during the Blending Lab for a friendly competition.

Author Deep Dive - Ted Lasso (Season 1)

Do you love Ted Lasso? Or do you have a friend who loves the show and they can't stop telling you, "Seriously, you need to watch it right now!"

Starting Tuesday, October 11th, we're hosting a 6-week class called "Author Deep Dive" where we'll focus on Season 1 of Ted Lasso. We'll go through the first season, point out and analyze moments of especially great writing, and have a group discussion.

We're holding these classes every Tuesday night at Barrel (2831 N. Broadway) at 8 pm. Cost is $99 for the 6 weeks. If interested, email [email protected]

Two last things - Not required, but this class is especially helpful if you're a writer or interested in writing. We'll offer examples and exercises to take into your own writing. And there's equal value if you're someone new to the show vs. someone who has already seen Season 1.
