COVID-19
Well it's been a long 2 years of ups and downs and Chicago is finally ready to eliminate the Mask and Vaccine requirement this Monday, February 28th for most areas. Please read the announcement from the Mayor here. The mandate to check vaccinations at local establishments is no longer required. Businesses may, however, continue to operate with safety protocols in place should they feel that is best for their business, employees and customers.

The following will still require masks:
• Health care settings
• On public transit
• and in other congregate settings

We wish to thank our business owners for sacrificing so much along the way to get us back on track.

Lakeview East has a variety of locations offering the Covid-19 vaccine.

To find a vaccination location closest to you, please follow the button below.

Vaccine availability is subject to change. Appointments are required at most locations. Click a location with vaccine “In stock” to take the next step and schedule your appointment.

SIDEWALK SIGNS NOW LEGAL BUT WILL NEED A PERMIT
The City has also announced, starting March 1st sidewalk signs (e.g. A-frame, T-frame, or other temporary self-supporting type signs, placed on the public way) will be allowed in the City of Chicago by obtaining the proper City permit. Street-front businesses will now be able to use sidewalk signs to advertise their business safely and effectively from the sidewalk. It has been against the city ordinance to place a sign on the public way and several of our businesses would receive fines if they were caught doing so. Now, you simply have to fill out a permit application, pay $100 per year and can be renewed up to five years.
The City permit application for sidewalk signs will be available on March 1, by visiting the City of Chicago’s Inspections, Permitting & Licensing web portal. A business will be allowed one sign per street address and an approved application will be provided a decal to display on a sidewalk sign. Here is a You Tube recorded webinar explaining the process.

LVECC Meeting with Chief Judge Evans
In order to fix the problem, you need to be at the table. The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce joined other leading business organizations at a meeting with Chief Judge Evans yesterday to discuss electronic monitoring, bail release, conviction rates, youth cognitive behavior and how we can work together to keep repeated and violent offenders off our streets. It was a productive meeting and will include more discussion with the States Attorney's office on prosecution and what the law states in order to issue no bail. Did you know it takes about 2 years for a court case? Chief Judge Evans wants to change this to 6 months. That will be a good start to keep offenders from repeating crimes as they wait for their day in court. We will continue discussions as we work together for positive changes for our City.

Community Developments
3160 N. Broadway
Seminary Properties and Management, Ltd. is planning to redevelop the 3160-2 N Broadway property with a transit-oriented, mixed use development. The project consists of 17 units, 6 parking spaces, 17 bicycle parking spaces, and ground floor retail/commercial space. The building will be 4 stories with a partial 5th floor. The top floor is set back 15 feet from the Broadway property line and 60 feet from the rear property line. Floors 2 through 4 are also set back 30 feet from the rear property line.
In order to preserve the historic elements of the existing building, the existing terra cotta accents, sill courses, cornice and coping pieces will be reused in the façade of the proposed building. The remainder of the building will be masonry.
The developer will seek a Type 1 zoning change from the existing B3-2 to B3-3.
