Jason Bailin

Jason Bailin is pictured opening a class at Get In The Kitchen

Jason Bailin, owner and founder of Get in the Kitchen, originally hails from the finance world where he worked as an investment manager for large corporations, foundations, cities and charities. He tried his hand at publishing when a few friends dared him to write a cookbook after throwing a private dinner party.

Upon his success with the Get in the Kitchen cookbooks and spice blends, his alma matter asked him to do an alumni cooking class. Despising traditional cooking classes, he decided to do the class in a "party format" where the guests simply came over, hung out in the kitchen and made great meals while drinking wine and playing charades and other game night type games. Because people loved it so much and told him that he should market this idea, he followed their advice.

After a year of renting space at various cooking schools in the area and throwing cooking parties, he stumbled across the vacant space at 3617 N. Broadway while walking around Lakeview (where he lives). Throwing caution to the wind and taking a flying leap out of his comfort zone, he signed the lease and events like Kooking & Karaoke, Tacos & Trivia and Poker & Barfood nights became a reality in the brand new "Get in the Kitchen!"

If you think you know cooking classes, you don't know jackfruit. It doesn't matter if you know how to cook, want to know how to cook or if you don't give a flying fork about cooking, you're gonna have an amazing time at one of their Cooking parties! Fun, great food, and general hilarity with a side of BYOB. What more could you want in a night out? They don't call it the "Party School" of cooking classes for nothing!

If you want to learn knife skills and gourmet techniques, go to the "other guys." But if you are looking to have an awesome time, learn some easily replicable, amazingly tasty home-cooking recipes and have an awesome "night out" experience, they're your guys!
