Dine Out  is Back!

We're excited to be participating again in  Mayor Lori Lightfoot's "Make Way for Dining" program! 25+ restaurants and food establishments along Broadway from Belmont to Diversey will participate, and several restaurants on Sheffield north of Belmont will as well. Sidewalk patios will be extended into the street, and there will be a few tables spread out throughout Broadway and Sheffield for those who would like to do carry-out.

All social distancing, face covering, and other guidelines will be followed. The 36 Bus on Broadway will be rerouted (check the CTA website for updates) and Barry, Oakdale, and Briar will become two way streets. Please see below for the map of this weekend's street closures.

Please click here for a list of participating restaurants, more information about street closures, and the Dine Out program.

Thank you to our sponsor, Byline Bank, for making Dine Out possible!

Want to See More Neighborhood Programs like Dine Out?
Want to See Small Businesses Thrive After COVID-19?

Consider Making a Donation to the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce!

If you have ever attended the Annual Lakeview East Festival of the Arts, Belmont Sheffield Music Festival, Halloween Hoopla, Wine Stroll, Annual Tree Lighting, last year's Wrigleyville Wonderland, the new Dine Out program, or any of the countless other community events we've put on for the community, you know how much we love the residents and businesses of Lakeview East and how incredibly proud we are to represent this neighborhood. We love hosting these events as much as you love attending, but they are also quite expensive to produce.

Your donation to the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce will help us continue support for our local small businesses during a time when they need us most, as well as bring our community together as we begin to reopen and, eventually, recover. After all, our local small businesses are what makes our neighborhood so dynamic, unique, and a place that truly feels like home. We will do whatever it takes to help keep it that way!

Please consider making a donation to the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce here.

New Guidelines for Bars, Personal Service, & Indoor Fitness Classes
Please be aware that beginning this FridayJuly 24th, Bars, taverns, breweries and other establishments that serve alcohol for on site consumption without a Retail Food license will no longer be able to serve customers inside (outdoor as outlined in Phase 3 is still allowed).

Also, personal services requiring the removal of face coverings will no longer be permitted (shaves, facials, etc.) and indoor fitness classes will be reduced to a maximum of 10 people per class.

New restrictions include:
  • Bars, taverns, breweries and other establishments that serve alcohol for on-site consumption without a Retail Food license will no longer be able to serve customers indoors.
    • Restaurants that serve alcohol will be allowed to continue to operate as long as they abide by ongoing COVID-19 guidance and existing regulations.
    • Establishments without food may still provide outdoor service* as they did under phase three.
  • Maximum party size and table occupancy at restaurants, bars, taverns and breweries will be reduced to six people.
  • Indoor fitness class size will be reduced to a maximum of 10 people.
  • Personal services requiring the removal of face coverings will no longer be permitted (shaves, facials, etc).
  • Residential property managers will be requested to limit guest entry to five per unit to avoid indoor gatherings and parties.
To prepare all business owners for the new guidance, the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection has a series of webinars this week to provide an overview of the new changes.  To register and learn more, visit  chicago.gov/businessworkshops.

To read the full announcement, click here.

In addition, as of July 10,  all bars, restaurants, breweries and other establishments that serve alcohol for on-premises consumption will be required to close by midnight each evening. This is in addition to existing regulations that prohibit the sale of alcohol for on-site consumption after 11pm and the sale for off-site consumption after 9pm.

This directive will minimize the spread of COVID-19 by preventing late-night congregating that could occur after the cutoff of alcohol sales. Curbside pick-up or delivery of food only can occur after midnight, provided that patrons do not enter or remain in the establishment. Restaurants who do not have a liquor license are not subject to the midnight closure order.
Sidewalk Cafes & Outdoor Dining
The sidewalk café reform ordinance includes the following provisions:
  1. 75% permit fee reduction
  2. Ability to extend sidewalk cafés in front of a neighboring property
  3. Expedited permit issuance process
Click here for more information. BACP has issued an updated FAQ on the process for an extended sidewalk café permit.

If you wish to extend your sidewalk cafe beyond your property line, please remember you cannot be in front of another food establishment or liquor store. You must ask permission from the property owner if you are NOT curbside. Please update your COI's. Here is the application. You also can not block an entryway.

Let us assist you with your permits for expanding your outdoor dining. Please email us for an appointment at info@lakevieweast.com.
