Want to See Small Businesses Thrive After COVID-19?
|
Consider Making a Donation to the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce! If you have ever attended the Annual Lakeview East Festival of the Arts, Belmont Sheffield Music Festival, Halloween Hoopla, Wine Stroll, Annual Tree Lighting, last year's Wrigleyville Wonderland, the new Dine Out program, or any of the countless other community events we've put on for the community, you know how much we love the residents and businesses of Lakeview East and how incredibly proud we are to represent this neighborhood. We love hosting these events as much as you love attending, but they are also quite expensive to produce. Your donation to the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce will help us continue support for our local small businesses during a time when they need us most, as well as bring our community together as we begin to reopen and, eventually, recover. After all, our local small businesses are what makes our neighborhood so dynamic, unique, and a place that truly feels like home. We will do whatever it takes to help keep it that way! Please consider making a donation to the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce here.

Long Overdue has an Exciting Project to Announce: We're Working on a Book about Lakeview East!
|
But instead of just having one writer, we want this to be a compilation of stories from anyone in our community. From residents who've lived here their entire life to people who moved here last summer. Restaurant owners, small business owners, people who love doing karaoke at Friar Tuck's, everyone is welcome. These can be your personal memories, history about Lakeview, your favorite spots, etc. To be involved or if you have any questions email Chris O'Brien at chris@longoverduestories.com.

What's On in the Belmont Theater District?
|
Just minutes from downtown in Chicago's Lakeview and Lakeview East neighborhoods, the Belmont Theater District is home to more than 50 theaters and hundreds of shops and restaurants within a short walking distance.
Amidst recent suspension of group gatherings and, thus, live performances, many Belmont District Theaters have opted into providing digital, remote and streaming programming for patrons to enjoy from the comfort of their own homes.

Kelly Park Volunteer Clean-Up Effort
|
Saturday, September 5th * 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT
John H. Kelly Park * 3800 N. Seminary Avenue
Chicago's parks need you to pitch in!This summer, the Chicago Parks Foundation is leading a citywide volunteer initiative to help keep the parks clean. In partnership with the Chicago Park District and our communities, we look forward to coming together to pitch in for the parks.
Over the past few months, park budgets have been stretched and there are fewer seasonal employees. The Chicago Parks Foundation is providing cleanup supplies and safety guidelines throughout the city to help support the parks' ongoing maintenance. Please join us and share the park love!
The Chicago Parks Foundation is the 501c3 partner of the Chicago Parks.
How it works
- REGISTER TO VOLUNTEER at the park(s) of your choice by selecting the dates/times you will show up to volunteer.
- SHOW UP SAFELY! Cleanup supplies will be provided for you onsite, and you can do your part by:
- wearing a face mask/covering (required at all times; supplies are limited, please bring your own!)
- sticking to a group of fifty (50) people or less and consciously practicing physical distancing
- wearing protective gloves and avoiding hazardous materials like glass and needles
- review the full Volunteer Safety Guidelines prior to your cleanup
- if you are feeling unwell or exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms at the time of your cleanup, please stay home - no need to alert us!
