Lakewood Yacht Club Hosted 2022 Texas Challenge Cup
Seabrook, TX: Lakewood Yacht Club and the Bay Access Foundation hosted the Texas Challenge Cup on Dec 10, 2022.

Nine Texas teams participated in this year's event, each consisting of 3-4 sailors competing for the coveted Texas Challenge Cup award.

Five hard-fought races were accomplished during the short-course format on Clear Lake using Lakewood's fleet of RS21s.

Austin Yacht Club took first place, followed by Corpus Christi and Lakewood Yacht Club in third.

Visit the RS21 Keelboat Fleet page for detailed results: www.lycrs21.com/rs21.

The history of the Texas Challenge Cup dates back to 1986. The first race was held at Texas Corinthian Yacht Club. That year, nine clubs competed on Solings. LYC and HYC held the event over the next three years, but the competition stopped and was not resurrected until 2001. By 2005, the event included clubs throughout Texas. Sometime later, the tradition paused until LYC rekindled the friendly rivalry in 2021.
