- Local youth Jack Otto has been selected as the 2018-2019 National Sea Scout Boatswain.
Jack is a member of Ship 468,
which Lakewood Yacht Club supports by hosting Sea Scout vessels and programs.
"Ship 468 meets Tuesday nights at the Reeves Strickler (Power Squadron ) Building at LYC
where we work with young men and women ages 14 up to 21 covering seamanship, citizenship, and leadership," says
Skipper Rob Freas.
An avid sailor and racer, Jack has raced in several LYC-hosted regattas including the Bay Cup series, and the Heald Bank and the Harvest Moon Regattas aboard the Sea Scout Training Vessel Sirly, Sea Scout Ship 468’s flagship.
"Our Sea Scouting program has been greatly enhanced by the substantial support we have received from Lakewood Yacht Club," added Freas. "The Club's generosity has enabled us to work with young men and women like Jack to become successful sailors and emerging leaders."
