Fort Worth Boat Club hosted 40 Optis from around the country for the 2021 Mid America Champs. Unfortunately, Saturday found the fleet drifting around with no wind, so the most action was on the Slip and Slide on the hill in front of the club. Sunday brought nice wind, and an early start helped five races to be achieved. The LYC Opti Team had great results taking 8 of the top 11 places.

2021 Optimist Southeast Championships
Hobcaw Yacht Club in Mount Pleasant, SC, was host to 143 Optimists for this Optimist Southeast Regatta. The racing was held in Charleston Harbor, always a challenging venue with the fast-moving tides and fickle winds. Lakewood Yacht Club was represented by Ewan Dossin, Dylan Tomko, Gavin Galway, Casey Small, Sydney Small
and Patrick McNamara.
Ewan Dossin finished in 3rd place, and all Lakewood Opti Sailors qualified in the Gold Division.
Lakewood Yacht Club youth sailors enjoy year-round sailing under the tutelage of full-time, professional coaches dedicated to helping young aspiring sailors achieve their goals. Some of the kids are interested only in learning the skills necessary to safely enjoy social sailing, while others with a more competitive spirit get involved with the racing circuit; some even compete at the National and International levels.
