Message from the Mayor

Hello everyone,

Yesterday afternoon, Lambton Shores Council held its first Electronic Participation Meeting. Electronic meetings have been enabled by the Province so that municipal business can continue during the current state of emergency. All Lambton Shores Councillors were able to “attend” the meeting while maintaining the physical distancing recommendations of our health officials. The meeting was brief to deal with only a few important issues. Highlights from this meeting are now available on our website .

I would like to remind you that this past Monday our municipal playgrounds and sports areas were closed as a result of the Provincial Emergency Declaration . This includes our beach. This is further to the earlier closure of community centres and recreation facilities. There are signs in these areas to remind you but the biggest effort must come from you and your families. Please respect these closures, and together we will work to keep our community safe and healthy.

Whether you have been in the community since the beginning of the pandemic, or if you are a recently returned Lambton Shores resident, I implore you to follow the advice of our local health unit. We have to do everything possible right now to control the spread of COVID-19! We all must continue to do our part to self-isolate, practice physical distancing (a hockey stick apart), and avoid social gatherings of more than 5 people. I know that as Canadians the pleasant weather is often a signal to gather, now is simply NOT the time to host visitors, nor to be a visitor yourself. If you can, please stay home. To all those following the recommendations - thank you! Your efforts are not going unnoticed.

In a final note, I wish to extend my deepest thanks to all of our essential workers, municipal employees, and healthcare providers. The work you are doing benefits us all.

Stay healthy, positive and safe.
