Message from the Mayor

Hello everyone,

Traditionally, November is a month of reflection. In less than one week, we will honour our veterans and reflect on the sacrifices that these men and women made for our great country. As we lead up to Remembrance Day, our local Legions need your support. Poppy campaigns look different this year, and formal cenotaph services will be limited. Please visit our events calendar to determine what is happening near you.

I encourage everyone to find a way to reflect, thank and honour our veterans on November 11.

COVID-19 is still here, but the cases in Lambton remain low with no active cases currently in our area. We all have a personal responsibility in helping to control the COVID-19 pandemic. We must continue to follow the guidance of public health experts. Practice physical distancing, wear a mask when indoors, limit gathering sizes and practice proper hygiene. Proper hygiene includes mask hygiene. Lambton Public Health has some great tips for the care and use of masks.

With so much out of our control, we can control our own actions. Choose to be kind.

Stay healthy, safe and positive.

Mayor Bill
Council Composition and Ward Boundary Review
Early in their term, Council adopted their 2019-2022 Strategic Priorities. One of their planned action items was a review of the current ward structure and size of Council.

To accomplish this goal, Council has engaged the services of Andrew Sancton Consulting to complete the review. By undertaking this review, Council has recognized the vital role they play in the electoral process in the establishment of the size and composition of municipal council, determining the method of selecting members of municipal council (i.e. at large elections versus the ward system) and by establishing the wards from which municipal councillors are elected.

The consultant team of Drs. Andrew Sancton and Tim Cobban have completed their preliminary analysis and presented their interim report to Council.

They are now in the consultation phase of the project and are looking for your input.
In addition to the online survey, the consultants have provided 2 separate opportunities to meet with their team (registration required). Please visit our Council Composition and Ward Boundary Review webpage for registration details.

Fall Leaf Pickup Program
The weather forecast for the next few days looks to be the perfect opportunity to get outside and have some fun raking leaves.
We will pick up your bagged leaves at the curb until November 13, 2020 as time and quantity dictates. The fall program began October 19 and will run until November 13, 2020. Any leaves left at the curb after November 13, 2020 will not be picked up.

Pick-up requirements:
  • All leaves must be in brown, paper bags. We do not accept plastic bags.
  • Only leaves will be picked up, no garbage, brush or other yard waste.
  • All bags must be placed at the curb for pick-up.

Please do not rake leaves onto the streets or in ditches. This poses a danger to pedestrians, bicycles and motorists and can cause drainage problems.

Lambton Shores residents will be able to continue to take their leaves to the Compost Site until the end of November (weather permitting). The Compost is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
