Today we recognize Pam, Vicki, and Cyndi, our Welcome Team, whose work helps students and families feel welcome at TVT. Through them, we also honor the many staff members whose daily care helps make our school feel like a community.
What made TVT feel like a meaningful community?
Cyndi: What makes TVT so special is the people who bring its mission to life every day. Being surrounded by such stellar, caring, and supportive teachers who are deeply committed to their students creates an environment where children feel valued, encouraged, and inspired to be their best. There is something incredibly meaningful about witnessing the connections, kindness, and dedication that make our school feel like a family.
What at TVT has made a lasting impact on you?
Vicki: Perhaps one of the most unexpected gifts of my years at TVT has been how much I have continued to learn myself. As my children learned about Judaism, I learned alongside them, deepening my own understanding of the holidays, traditions, laws, and customs year after year. TVT has been much more than a school or a workplace for me. It has been a place of belonging, lifelong learning, meaningful relationships, and personal growth. I came to TVT hoping to give my children a strong Jewish foundation and a close-knit community. Over the past 25 years, TVT has given all of that to our family—and so much more. It has become a part of who we are.
What is your hope for TVT's next 36 years?
Pam: Having worked at TVT for 20 years and witnessed the amazing growth we have made and where we are today, my hope is that we continue to grow and flourish, continue Papa Gelman's legacy, and send well-rounded, thoughtful, compassionate, and caring students out into the world to share what they have been privileged to experience at TVT.
