A Message from the Chairman
Surf, Sand and Sun...Luis is (almost) done!
Yacht ready for this? Mark your calendars for the 2019 Lancaster Chamber Installation Banquet which is taking place on Friday, June 21st. Sail on over to UAV Ballroom as we welcome aboard incoming Chairwoman Katie Nelson and say bon voyage to outgoing Chairman Luis Garibay.
This titanic sized event will include recognition of our hardworking crew of volunteers, the staff (the true lifesavers of the organization), as well as the installation of the 2019/2020 Board of Directors.
Don't be a castaway - join your fellow shipmates for some great food, cocktails, and conversation. The event will also include some fun auction items. Proceeds from the auction will go towards the Work Ethics Scholarship Fund.
No need to go overboard with fancy attire. Guests are encouraged to wear nautical colors, stripes, anchor and boat prints or just your favorite cruise attire. The scuttlebutt is that the person wearing the best outfit will win a special prize.
While all the nautical puns were free, unfortunately the event is not. Individual tickets are
$55 or you can purchase a table of eight for

Work Ethics Scholarship Presentations
The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce Career Education Committee would like to invite you to join us as we present our annual Work Ethics Scholarships!
The Work Ethics Scholarship program is fully funded by sponsorship's and donations and will provide $17,000 in scholarships to 18 local High School graduates who are attending Colleges and Universities this year. The Scholarships are based on academics, the student's demonstrated work ethic in either a paid job or internship, and future aspirations.

Don't Become the Next Headline...
New Sexual Harassment Training Law
Effective January 1, 2019, California requires employers with 5 or more employees (located anywhere) to provide two hours of sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training to supervisors (and to any out-of-state supervisors of California employees) and at least one hour of such training to ALL of their employees in California. All employees must be trained in the 2019 calendar year, before January 1, 2020. The minimum count of "5" employees covers seasonal and temporary hires, including independent contractors.
Training is now being offered throught eh Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and can be accomplished online, using the Chamber sponsored CalChamber Learning Management System.
The Learning Management System (LMS) gives administrators greater flexibility to create and auto-generate custom reports and email notifications; upload learners and assign training at the same time, and much more. Members of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce will receive a 20% Chamber discount.
This course is approved for 2.0 California credit hours toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute (HRCI).
This course is also approved for 2.0 MCLE credit hours. CalChamber is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. This course is approved for 2.0 PDCs.
