The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce is proud to introduce the formation of a Young Professionals group, the Lancaster Young Professionsal (LYP), that will be hosting their first event, BASH (Business Advancing Social Hour), on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at a proud Lancaster Chamber of Commerce member location, Twisted Exit (Escape Room). The event will be followed by drinks and appetizers at Gino's. This is a great opportunity to meet other young professionals and enjoy a social hour. Registration is required and limited at 20, so please contact the Lancaster Chamber to register.
Our monthly luncheon will be held on Wednesday, February 14th at Hellenic Center from 11:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M. We are pleased to have Steven Derryberry, Esq. to discuss top small business legal matters, along with Austin Rice, CPA who will be discussing new tax laws and how they will affect your business.

We would like to introduce you to our 2018 Work Ethics Scholarship program promoted by the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. We would be delighted to count you as a Scholarship Sponsor to help the young people in our community.
The Work Ethics Scholarship program is fully funded by your donations and last year provided $10,000 in scholarships to 14 local High School graduates who are attending Colleges and Universities this year. The Lancaster Chamber is dedicated to building a strong future for the youth of today by supporting our students who have made a commitment of attending college. For over 100 years the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce has remained dedicated to encouraging higher education as a means of preparing young people to become stronger leaders and citizens in our community.
The Scholarships are based on academics, the student's demonstrated work ethics in either a paid job or internship, and future aspirations. Awardees must graduate High School in the Antelope Valley and provide proof of college enrollment. Scholarships are provided in $500 levels, dependent on
sponsorship's
received.

Social Media Marketing Tip

We all want to be more engaged in social media. A comment I often hear is, how do I make it work for me? Let's take a peek at Facebook.
The key with Facebook is to remember that the algorithm they use rewards posts that have interaction. If a business posts something, but no one responds, then Facebook won't show it to anyone. The goal for Facebook is to keep people on their website, and they can only do that by showing posts and stories that people find interesting. What's more is that it's going to become more difficult, as Facebook announced they're going to be changing their algorithm. I still haven't got the old system down yet and now it appears they'll now favor content from friends over companies and other pages.
So the key is to ask questions and respond to the answers. A realtor could post a picture of someone getting the keys to their first house and sure, it's interesting enough. But if they turn around and ask people about their first house experience, or price, or place, they have a chance to get people to answer, or be engaged. They can then respond to that person who answered the question. Next is the aha moment, you're not just seen as a person listing and selling real estate but the conduit bringing people to new home experiences!
