I'm feeling all the feels today as I sit down to write this "it's not good-bye, it's see you later" note to our Lancer Family.
Feeling the feels because we are sending our 8th graders off to high school this week. Congratulations to each of you and I wish you all the best in your next adventure!
Feeling the feels because it's the end of a school year full of wonderful student and school accomplishments. Bravo to everyone!
Feeing the feels of summertime...a time for us all to take a breath and recharge.
So before we take that breath, let's look back at all the amazing things that happened this past school year:
- Construction has started on our long awaited facelift/campus update. The General Obligation Bond promised to Palmetto Middle School 8 years ago is now becoming a reality. A new roof, new windows, updated bathrooms, new flooring, new air conditioning, covered walkways, new paint job and more are on the way.
- Feeling of normalcy: After a crazy, Covid-y 2 years, we enjoyed a fun first week of school complete with balloons and Kona Ice, the return of Turkey Bowl, enjoyed student performances and attended amazing field trips.
- Student and school spirit: We saw many of our sports teams excel, our students earning a multitude of awards and had our first ever LancerFest. Seeing all these accomplishments make me so proud...proud of how hard our kids work; proud of the educators that teach them and proud of our families and community for the Lancer Love and support.
Thank you to our parents, administration, community for the making this school a special place to learn and grow.
My wish for next year is that we build upon what we have started this year and have more parents and community supporters helping within the walls of our school...helping teachers with the support they need and want in their classrooms, helping with programs that make an impact on our school and environment, encouraging and leading kids in keeping our campus looking and feeling like a school they want to learn in and seeing everyone here for athletic events and school performances.
I want to thank this year's PTSA board for all the planning, creativity and work they put into making the school year the success that it is. Your leadership, passion for our school and drive to make this the best learning environment it can be are much appreciated.
So with this, I say Thank You for allowing me to serve our school and community this past year and I wish everyone a fun and relaxing summer. See you on campus August 17!
