April 2020
Quick Links
Dear Lancer Families,

Monday, April 6th is the first official day of virtual learning in MMSD. We know you have received a lot of information from the district, and we wanted to take the time the share out some key points to you all as we try to keep it simple:

  • It is okay if your child does not have their device or charger yet. We are working to get this to you soon.

  • Your child should have approximately 3 hours of work each day.

  • There will not be a specific time that students must be “in class.” However, teachers will let students know when they are available “live” virtually for questions, support, and connection.

  • Work will be posted for your child through their Google Classrooms for each class, and teachers will primarily communicate with them (and you) through email.

La Follette College and Career Center Updates
Greetings from our VIRTUAL College and Career Center.

As we all transition to our new reality, we wanted to make sure families knew that our efforts of supporting students beyond LHS does not waiver. We are working to put together some student-led resources to assist students in whatever kinds of research/ planning they feel is relevant at this time.

Please note that all resources will be posted for students in their Counseling Google Classrooms. Each “class” (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) have a Counseling Google Classroom specific for their grade level needs. Students can find OPTIONAL tasks/resources under classwork category College and Career Readiness.

We are also working with teachers for some grade level activities that could be highlighted within classes, example of this is our Eng. 3 team offering resources and feedback on personal essay or college essay support. These times are new for us all, but we are working as a team and are all here to support our Lancers.

Senior families, we have a survey we are sending out the week of April 13th. This survey is to gather updated information on Seniors plans after graduation. This is so we can provide support where needed, but also celebrate our Seniors. Please promote in any way possible the completion of this survey with your student.

As always if you have any questions or suggestions do not hesitate to reach out.

Go Lancers,
MacKenzie Swanson
