Dear LHS Families,

It has been over a year since our world turned upside down and our daily interactions changed dramatically. As more and more people become eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine we can feel the hope that it brings and we are excitedly preparing for the next stage of our school year. As the tides begin to change we have many important dates coming up:
  • April 13th: ACT opportunity for juniors at LHS (all other students have an asynchronous day)
  • April 20th:  all students and all classes will begin to follow our new schedule that we will follow for the rest of this year.

LHS College and Career Center
As we roll into spring and season of adjustments here at LHS, we wanted to make you all aware we too are planning to adjust in the college and career center. We are working right now with students and staff to determine what makes the most sense for support during this transition.

We will keep you updated as we roll out our new plan.

This past month we continued to focus on ACT at a Junior level, while also supporting our Sophomores in some post high school planning. 10th graders took a brief break from their World History class to explore our LHS Post High School Exploration Website- English version and Spanish version. We encourage all families to click into the site and explore.

La Follette MSCR Updates
Hello Lancers,

MSCR continues to offer a variety of virtual programs for LHS students this spring. Please read below to learn more about some new or ongoing programs that are open for new students to join. Other programs will be added throughout the school year so stay tuned for more information.

MSCR is offering virtual academic tutoring by appointment using Zoom. Tutors and LHS teachers will be available by appointment during after school hours Monday-Friday.

MSCR invites any student who enjoys writing - fiction, poetry, scripts, short stories or whatever! - to join MSCR Creative Writing Club. Students will share work, get ideas, and learn from other writers. This club is open to all MMSD high school students. Interested students should complete this short registration form.

MSCR is inviting all board game lovers to join our new online MSCR Board Game Arena. Students will meet on Zoom and play board games online for free. This group meets on Mondays at 4:00 pm. Interested students should sign up here.

MSCR Up First is an afterschool group for students who enjoy discussing current events and politics and learning ways to get involved in the issues they care about. Up First meets on Thursdays at 4:00 pm on Zoom. Interested students should sign up here.

In addition to these programs for La Follette students, MSCR offers a variety of virtual and in-person programs to the entire Madison community. Please visit mscr.org or follow MSCR on social media for more information.

If any Lancer students or families would like more information about any of these programs, please contact me. MSCR wants to support Lancer students and families in whatever way we can during virtual school.

With respect,
