Dear Lancer Families,

This past month we hosted our Senior Exit Fair at La Follette, an event supporting our seniors to prepare for graduation, and to reflect back on growth experiences they have had over the past four years. This is also the time of the year when we honor our students who have earned National Honor Society status, as well as honors and high honors through ceremonies. I want to share with all of you a few thoughts I shared with our students at these events.

“At La Follette High School, we work hard with our students to stay focused on three things: Believe in yourself. Never give up. Go beyond the 3.0. Those who have confidence and persistence are unstoppable in this world, and succeed in all that they set their mind to accomplish. For the past three years, I’ve illustrated these points with a few stories, but this year I’m taking a different path, and I want to share a poem with you.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
- J.R.R. Tolkien
