Lancer Families,

This year is off to an amazing start. It is a pleasure walking the halls of La Follette watching the positive interactions with our students and staff. I have enjoyed sharing in that back-to-school excitement in our classrooms and hallways. What a great place to do high school!
This school year, we are committed to disrupting inequities and creating conditions for learning, innovation and reflection. We will continue to encourage and support students to take academic risks. That’s part of our theory of action. This year, La Follette students will:

Attendance Newsletter
Good attendance contributes to students doing well in school and eventually in the workplace. By middle and high school, attendance is even more predictive of successful graduation. Each absence represents a preventable lost opportunity to learn in the classroom.

The Lance - Student Voice of LHS
We would like to introduce our new Online piece to the Lance Newspaper. Each quarter we will continue to print a regular news magazine but will have current weekly content posted to our website.
LHS College and Career Readiness Update
Coming SOON… LHS college and career center! In an effort to better support ALL of our students in being college, career, and community ready, LHS is opening a College and Career center in the student services office.

Currently our center is in the building process. It is however hosting all of our college and career reps as they meet with our Junior and Senior students. Once the structure is finalized we look forward to offering workshops, mentoring, and opportunity sharing with our students and their families.

Please check out our Academic and Career Planning Plan for all LHS students. If you are interested in assisting in our efforts of supporting our students in being college, career, and community ready please reach out.

IMPORTANT Senior Picture and Senior Ad Information
Please review the attached documents regarding  SENIOR PICTURES  and  SENIOR ADS  f or the  2020 Statesman yearbook Senior pictures  are  due  no later than  Friday, September 27, 2019  due to yearbook deadlines our publisher has given us. You can also find this information on the LHS website here

If you have any issues making arrangements getting your senior picture taken by deadline, please contact me ( dkennedy@madison.k12.wi.us ) by the end of the school year (June 12, 2019) or by September 6, 2019 to get on the list to have a professional photographer take your picture at La Follette free of charge before the deadline of September 27, 2019. We also have other low cost options available upon request.

Senior Ads for the Statesman yearbook  should be turned in as soon as possible. Space is limited and may sellout early at the start of the school year. Senior Ads must be turned in complete to be assigned a spot in the yearbook. We do not reserve or hold spots for incomplete ads (missing any content such as text, images or payment). We will accept senior ads now for next school year or send in over the summer to the listed address on the order form.

The last day to pre-order a Statesman yearbook is December 20, 2019. If a book is not ordered  and  paid in full by Friday, Dec. 20, 2019 students can purchase a book at the end of the school year. Limited quantities will be ordered, first come first serve at that time.

Do NOT submit your senior picture to my email,  dkennedy@madison.k12.wi.us

If you have any questions, please email me:  dkennedy@madison.k12.wi.us
