Robert M. La Follette High School is a special place. We have a vision for Madison's graduates that sets high expectations for our Lancers. We believe in our students, and will never give up until every one of our Lancers is successful. At La Follette, we have a "Theory of Action" that describes how we prepare all of our students for success after graduation:

If all staff commit to disrupting inequities through culturally and linguistically responsive instructional practices by purposefully collaborating on

  • building strong relationships with students and families that increase student engagement in learning
  • supporting students' close reading of relevant, engaging texts with scaffolding for language growth and collaborative critical thinking
  • measuring and reflecting on the impact of adult actions on equitable student engagement and learning

then we will close gaps in achievement, and all students will be critical thinkers, readers, and writers, who are confident and ready to succeed in college, career, and community.

The La Follette High School Key Club presents  LHS Key Harvest Food Pantry! Our pantry is a long-term service project focused on serving our students who may not have the resources to avoid hunger during the school day.  We are holding a few drives throughout the school year to stock our pantry shelves. Visit our  Key Harvest Food Pantry  web page for dates and for a list of items we are requesting. Thank you!

Students who need help with homework or a quiet space to study can come to the LMC Mondays from 2:30-4:15 pm and Tuesdays-Thursdays from 3:45-5:15 pm.  Students are able to access computers, get help with homework from school day teachers and tutors, and have a snack.  Additionally, there are multiple clubs offered this month: Volleyball Club, Project Unify, Read It Then See It, and Critical Mass. For more information regarding after-school homework help or any clubs, including information on how to start a club, please contact Molly Hayes (MSCR/CLC Specialist) by phone 608-204-3625 or email or stop by the CLC!

The La Follette Spanish Club study abroad program will be kicking off plans for the 2019 trip with our annual Christmas wreath fundraiser in late October.  Students interested in participating should listen for announcements or contact Ms. Ferguson.  Any Lancer families or community members who are interested in supporting this trip by purchasing a wreath can contact Ms. Ferguson after October 20th at

This trip is open to all students with a level 3 Spanish proficiency or higher by the end of the 2018-19 school year, with good behavior records and a graduation date of 2019 or later.  Students will vote on our trip destination & itinerary in February 2018 and then enrollment will begin in late March or April.
