PTSA NEWS

• REFLECTIONS What is REFLECTIONS? A National PTA program that seeks to ignite creativity and recognize students for their original pieces. How? Each year a theme is presented from which the student can "reflect" upon and create a piece of art, literature, dance, film, photography, and/or music. Who? This program is open to all students. Some will be participating through their Art and English classes, but we encourage everyone to submit a piece in one or more categories! This years theme? ACCEPTING IMPERFECTION. • PTSA GENERAL MEETING Thank you for joining us at our First General Meeting to review the year ahead and approve our budget. A copy of the presentation can be found HERE. Please join us at our next General Meeting on Wednesday, October 16th at 9:15 am.

• DINNER NIGHT OUT! Skip cooking next Wednesday night and head over to Chipotle @ 12227 South Dixie Hwy to support your school between 5-9pm! We encourage 6th graders to meet at 6 pm and 7th and 8th graders to meet up at 7 pm! FLYER TO SHOW AT RESTAURANT AND ONLINE PICKUP CODE can be found HERE

• LANCER PJ PANTS Final order is in! Students can come by school store in the morning to sign out their ordered PJ. Thanks once again for supporting this fundraiser and can't wait to see our Lancers in their comfy fit on October 4!

• CAMPUS CLEANUP Our first campus cleanup of the year will take place October 11. Stay after school for a chance to receive community hours for your service. Stay tuned for sign up details through social media / school announcements.

• STAFF APPRECIATION We are kicking off two programs that we love that support our teachers and staff!

• COPY PAPER DONATIONS. Being more digital means getting a lower supply of paper, but many times the "good ol' worksheet" allows to develop ideas in other ways! You can bring reams to school or buy reams on school store that we will distribute with a "donated by" sticker for the shout out you deserve! Buy HERE.

• STOCK THE LOUNGE. Each month families volunteer to either bring snacks, treats and drinks or they can donate to the PTSA as we will purchase the items for you. You can work with another family you know or can meet, and your family name is displayed in the lounge as the generous sponsor of the month. Palmetto Middle has 70 faculty and staff members. • CLASS CHATS There are grade level chats that parents are welcome to join on WhatsApp. Our grade level chats are a quick and efficient way to disseminate school or class-level information, however we recommend subscribing to the PTSA newsletter and school website for complete details. • EMERGENCY CONTACT CARD AND FORMS If you still have not completed, please take the time do so now. Link HERE. If you have an emergency and need someone else to pick up your child, they will not be able to do so unless listed.

• LOST STUDENT ID? Replacements are now available for purchase on OSP. (Available through student portal). Please give a few days for processing and delivery.

• ROBOTICS PARENTS ROCK! In our last newsletter we created a sign up for families to donate towards the purchase of new items to further enrich the program. There is now $5,000 worth of new products on their way to support an even more engaging and hands-on experience for our students!!! Thank you Andi Lipton, Ava Dyal, Odia Family and many others that contributed to the efforts and made it happen!

CLUBS AND SPORTS

Last year at Palmetto Middle School? The 8th Grade Fund is busy putting fundraisers and events together to make the send off memorable. Proceeds from these efforts go to reducing the costs of the end of year dance which will take place on Saturday, May 31st at the Thesis Hotel! Questions? Email pms8gf25@gmail.com.

Orders are in production for delivery in homeroom upon arrival (hopefully 1st week of October). Crewneck Sweatshirts can be worn everyday, T-Shirts, on Fridays only.

Current Fundraiser:

The Charleston Wrap FUNdraiser. A great way to do your holiday shopping and support the 8th grade fund!

Sale period is September 23-October 7. Please use the QR-code on the flyer found HERE to register your child to sell Charleston Wrap. (or use www.registercw.com - organization ID 27828). Then, input your child's name, etc. and select Grade 8 (only 8th grade is selling) and then add your homeroom teacher. Afterwards you will get a personalized link to share that is tied to your child.
