Land Grabs in Cambodia

Meet Pastor Thyda

Hello Erin,,

Pastor Thyda is one of our Mission 25 pastoral partners. She runs a school, in rural Kampong Chhnang. Her school is much like the Mission 25 school in Pursat. Children in these areas do not normally have access to a good education, so schools like ours and Pastor Thyda's offer hope & a chance to excel. Pastor Thyda's school also acts as a local church in her community. At the beginning of 2022, Mission 25 started work on a solar-powered well on her school property. In March we met Pastor Thyda and the children she ministers to everyday. Here are some photos we took then... look at those cute faces!

Unfortunately, Pastor Thyda has become a victim of an attempted "land grab", an act of seizing land in an opportunistic or unlawful manner. Land grabbing happens for a few key reasons. Corruption, lack of political representation, and a weak rule of law have been key reasons people have been successful in stealing land. "It is easier for foreign investors, state-owned enterprises, and others to buy large swatches of land in poorer countries if they are dealing with weak and corrupt, autocratic governments".

This is what is happening to our Pastor Thyda.

Fortunately, Mission 25 has funds set aside to assist our pastors and partners with emergencies, se we found a reputable lawyer and gave toward Pastor Thyda's legal fees, but now we need your help in replenishing this fund!

Please consider giving to help people like Pastor Thyda continue to serve their communities.

Please pray that God's justice will be served in Cambodia and beyond.

DONATE TODAY

We Are THANKFUL!

We have seen so many things change in Cambodia since we starting going in 2013. More education, more clean water, less human trafficking, and more Jesus.

Thank you for giving, thank you for praying, thank you for supporting!

Best,

Sam & Erin Oginsky
