THOUGHT LEADERS
It’s been three years since we broke the story of Leading Harvest. This excellent
piece of reporting by Cary Estes revealed a bold new initiative, one created by a
coalition of farmland owners and operators intent on establishing a sustainability
standard that could be implemented across the greatest portion of agricultural
acreage possible. This remarkable story has only gotten better. Just this month, Leading
Harvest announced its successful expansion into Australia.
Consider now Lisa Martin’s profile of the nation’s first agricultural research
organization (ARO): South Texas’s East Foundation. Lisa and I were attending the
Texan by Nature Conservation Summit this past November when East Foundation
CEO Neil Wilkins shared the news of the first-in-the-nation designation. AROs will
be a total game changer for agricultural producers. I’m proud to feature Lisa’s
insightful profile. And congratulations are definitely in order to Neil, his team, and the
board of the East Foundation.
