"Vermont is a state I love"

Born on the Fourth of July, Calvin Coolidge of Plymouth Notch, VT, became president 100 years ago on August 3, 1923. Living history performer Tracy Messer of the Coolidge Presidential Foundation takes us to simpler times in this appearance. "In almost every speech I gave in my administration I advocated for fiscal frugality and personality responsibility," said Coolidge, er, Messer. Bonus: Coolidge scholarship competitors recite the Declaration of Independence. Welcoming immigrants to the Upper Valley

3CVT, TRORC, GMEDC, SHARe, Vital Communities, and regional partners led a discussion following their presentation “Utica: The Last Refuge," a film about immigration and inclusivity, how refugees positively impact local economies, and the struggles they face in an upstate NY community. They related the film's themes to challenges for immigrants in the Upper Valley and paths for volunteers to make a difference.

Produced by Kate Barber, Mike Canon and Drew Boyce for JAM at Briggs Opera House (6/15/23)

The Face of Lincoln

Learn the stories behind the famous—and little-known—photographs of Ol' Abe from 1846 to 1865. Find out how they influenced his career and helped him win the Presidency in this riveting lecture by author and photographer Christopher Dant of Manchester, VT. "Lincoln was visionary in how he used this new technique just as FDR used radio," said Dant. Courtesy GNAT-TV
