Johnny and our Haglöf representative, Brigg, used the new VL Geo 2 mounted on the optional monopod staff to measure DBH on 9 trees and found the accuracy to be about 0.5 inch! EZ Plot Pro
EZ Plot Pro is now available for ArcGIS Pro! As you move from ArcMap to ArcPro, bring EZ Plot Pro with you or add it to your arsenal of time saving tools! EZ Plot Pro lets you easily layout inventory plots on specific spacing and angles! Use the straightforward menu to indicate the spacing, and how many plots you want in each stand. EZ Plot Pro is a smart modern tool that can read the stand attribute table and if there is a column denoting number of plots per stand, that can be used to allocate the specified number of plots in each stand! It can also update attributes and export waypoint files!

New regulations from the European Union | |
|
This year the European Union (EU) has put into effect a regulation aimed to reduce the consumption of wood and wood products from deforested areas. This new regulation is being referred to as EUDR or European Union Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products. This regulation has been in affect since summer of 2023, but enforcement starts in December of 2024.
What does this mean?
Almost all wood imported into the EU, with very few exceptions, will need to be trackable to ensure it is not coming from land that was degraded or deforested. Information including date, geolocation, and chain of custody of the exported forest products will need to accompany forest products.
LMSS has some solutions that can help you track your forest products. Programs like Trimble4Loads and CFX can be implemented to geotag loads with GPS, map harvest locations, share data, and more!

New Parcel Layer in ESRI Living Atlas | |

Esri has just released a new US wide parcel layer and it now available in the Living Atlas for ArcPro and in AGOL!
To access the parcel layer in ArcPro, go to the Add Data button> Data > Living Atlas > type Parcel Layer in the search bar > Select the Regrid USA Nationwide Parcel Boundary layer. Zoom in and view the parcel boundaries!
To access the parcel layer in AGOL click here and click the Open in Map View button in the upper right corner. In AGOL you can also view information such as address, Parcel IDs, and last refresh date. More data is available for purchase. Click here for details on pricing and features.

As of July 1, 2024, ArcMap is no longer available for purchase. Perpetual ArcMap licenses will continue to work, as long as your computer does. Going forward, however, you can only purchase ArcPro. It is recommended to start moving over to Pro before your subscription to ArcMap ends, or before your computer dies. Once that happens, you will not have any access to ArcMap.
LMSS has a class on the SAF ForestEd platform about migrating to ArcPro. Enrollment for Cohort 13 is open until 10/28/24. Click here to signup!
Esri also has migration resources. Log into your MyEsri Account to access training programs and more! Click on the Training tab and then the Esri Academy for a wealth of classes and tutorials.

Please help us welcome Shane Mathews, our new Logging Solutions Manager at LMSS!
Shane Mathews was an end user of the 4Loads and CFX products during his time as a timber buyer/land manager with the Varn Companies. Prior to that he was a stumpage and procurement forester for Interfor in Georgia and Arkansas. His hands-on experience with the products he supports make him uniquely suited to the role of Logging Solutions Manager. Shane earned a BS in Forest Resources at UGA in 2016. He lives in Brunswick, Georgia with his wife and 3 children.
