President's Message
Halloween is over and holiday decorations are already on the store shelves. I hear tales of snow up north but our afternoon temperatures are still in the lower 80s. How nice! We have two events to discuss this month: one is an opportunity to serve and the second is the ability to safely welcome in the holidays.
The Winter Wonderland Holiday Cocktail Party will be held on Tuesday, December 8th, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm in the Palmetto Variety Pavilion at a cost of $75 per person. We are lucky the club has continued to rent the outdoor tent that provides ample room for social distancing. We will be limiting attendance to further facilitate social distancing, so sign up quickly by clicking here. If you are unable to attend, we urge you to consider a donation to our philanthropic efforts by clicking here to donate.
The Salvation Army is a charity that has been raising money for those less fortunate since 1891. A Salvation Army Captain noticed that many poor individuals were going hungry. When considering how to raise money for Christmas dinner, he remembered that in Liverpool, where boats came in, there was a large iron kettle called “Simpson’s Pot” into which folks tossed a coin or two to help the poor. The next day, the captain started a pot with a sign stating, “Keep the Pot Boiling.” He soon had the funds to feed folks at Christmas. Landlovers has supported the Salvation Army with our grant program, but this year they have asked us to help raise funds on Skidaway Island. The Village Walk Pharmacy has graciously allowed the Salvation Army to put a pot by their door, and we are asking Landlovers' members to help man the effort.
Again, as a reminder, the best way you can help will be by renewing your membership to Landlovers. You can renew your membership by clicking the link in the renewal information below.
Stay safe and healthy on our beautiful island.
Warm regards,
John

Our Activity Directors and Chairs are working diligently and creatively to find safe ways to host Landlovers activities. Many of our activities have been delayed as we work to operate safely and in accordance with CDC recommendations. However, we are excited to report that certain activities are up and running and ready to entertain and support our members.

We guarantee no snow, but a fun evening with friends in an outdoor, socially-distant environment.
Please join us for a Winter Wonderland – Savannah Style to kick-off the holiday season. We will welcome the holiday season with chestnuts roasting on an open fire and with bonfires adjacent to the Variety Pavilion to support social distancing. In addition, there will be bountiful hors d’oeuvres reminiscent of selections seen at outdoor European Holiday Markets, complimentary champagne upon arrival, a members’ bar, and holiday music and caroling.
You must be a Landings Landlovers member to attend. If you are unable to attend our Winter Wonderland gathering, please click on the reservation link anyway and click on the link to DONATE instead! This will help us keep up the Landings Landlovers tradition of philanthropy, as it will allow you to donate directly to the Grant, Award and Scholarship Programs.
