President's Message
The holidays are around the corner and 2021 is in sight. 2020 is a year to remember! Let us hope that 2021 is a better and healthier year!
We have a lot to be thankful for on our beautiful island. It is wonderful to see the generosity of the folks as Landlovers, for the first time, supported the Salvation Army’s bell ringing effort outside of the Village Pharmacy. I would like to thank Marian Mackle for her efforts to manage the multiple one hour time slots. I would also like to thank everyone who volunteered to ‘ring the bell’. The money raised will make the holiday brighter for many folks in the Savannah area.
We held our first social of the year on December 8th with chilly temperatures, holiday masks, and plenty of chestnuts roasting by the open fire. I would like to thank Marguerite Baxter and her committee for planning such a fun event under difficult conditions. It was wonderful seeing everyone that attended.
There are a lot of socials and fund raising events planned for 2021. We all hope that conditions will improve so we can move forward with our New Year Plans. Remember, we are still collecting items for sale by our auction house so if you have large items that you would like to donate, please contact Gail Tomassini (fleamarketintake@gmail.com).
I hope everyone has a safe, fun, and healthy holiday season with great plans for a happy New Year.
Warm regards,
John

Green Thumb Workshops
Floral workshops are always popular for December meetings, so they looked for a way to create workships for online access, allowing them to give it to the whole community. The workshops are conducted by Adrienne Williams, a retired professional florist and head of the Flower Guild of St Peter’s Episcopal Church here on Skidaway Island. Over the two videos she shows you
- A mantelpiece arrangement with a Christmas color theme
- A dozen red roses in a vase dressed with greenery and white accents, definitely stylish and easily adapted for Valentine’s Day.
- A green and white arrangement suitable for any winter holiday.
- A ‘Wow’ Fall arrangement quite large, but full of ideas for Thanksgiving and beyond. After all, the Wow-factor is part of the lift to holiday spirits!
To view the Christmas Floral Workshop, click here.
Adrienne is happy to answer any questions you have as you watch the videos. Jot notes and email them to savannahwms38@gmail.com
