GREETINGS, LANDLOVERS!

I find it difficult to believe that this week actually brings us to the beginning of the Fall season. While we may miss the autumn colors and the falling of leaves, we do enjoy cooler temperatures, less humidity, and yet still have football.
 
This time of year also brings the beginning of our major Landlovers’ events. Please join us at our Opening Reception on September 28, 2021, from 4:30-6:30 pm in the Palmetto Ballroom as we get together to share the details of this year’s events, activities and fundraisers with the community. This event is free to all Skidaway Island residents with complimentary appetizers and a member/cash bar. As you wander through the Palmetto Ballroom during the Opening Reception, please look for our Social Directors, Judy Waller and Milli Sample, who have worked diligently to organize this event and our other social events planned throughout the year. You will also want to meet Suzy and Tim Forbes, the dynamic director duo leading our fundraising activities, such as the Flea Market and Games Day. Eileen Yost and Judy Faraklas, our Activity Directors, will be there representing the more than 20 different activities sponsored by Landlovers. Membership Director Vicki Knapp accompanied by our Treasury Directors, Lee Snyder and Beth Schriefer, will be on hand to process your membership applications (check, cash or credit card) and Jean Deitch will gladly accept your donations. Our Communications Directors, Susan Danner and Pam McCloskey, along with Secretary Beth Holmquist will be taking notes to memorialize the event and describe it for those who could not attend. Vice President Chris Lanigan and I look forward to greeting all our returning and new members.

As a board we continue to debate and weigh the risks of holding our various events in light of Covid and the best interests of our members and the organization. At this time, we are planning to hold our usual socials and fundraisers following current Club and TLA protocol, as applicable. For indoor events, such as our Opening Reception, this protocol encourages the wearing of masks by all and requires mask wearing for those who are not vaccinated. For Landlovers’ activities, such as bridge, bunco and other groups, please review details on our website. If you do not wish or are unable to attend, please visit www.landingslandlovers.com to join Landlovers and learn more about our entertaining and fulfilling organization.
