Hello, Upper Valley!

Thank you to the 350 people who walked through our doors for TWIST (the Twin State Comic & Zine Fair) last Friday! If you were one of those people, you may have received a JAM “business card” with information about our org, and a link to our content submission page. As you’ll see from this week’s highlights, we love programming community-produced video content on nature or other small observations about our region, especially this time of year.

This week's Upper Valley features

Community planting day. After winning a grant in 2024 from the USDA Forest Service, the Lebanon Tree Advisory Board and Department of Public Works organized a tree-planting event last month. First-time planters and experienced gardeners alike improved and beautified the town’s urban forest by planting 9 trees by Lebanon Middle School and 8 trees by Lebanon High School, adding to the over 220 trees planted by the Advisory Board. 9/26/26 Produced by Rick Russell for JAM.

White River neighbors. Peek inside the tiny alcoves about fifty feet from JAM’s front door in the historic Gates Briggs building, where our even tinier neighbors live –– baby sparrows nesting in the roof. We are happy to be located in a central part of town and to “rub shoulders” with cute wildlife. Produced by Rick Russell.

Homage to Bob Dylan. Listen to Ali T, Brooks Hubbard, Bow Thayer, Krishna Guthrie, Jim Yeager, and Jenna Rice perform the entirety of Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks album at the Briggs Opera House. The tribute concert was produced by Pat Halpin, who also organized a performance of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska last year. 8/24/26 Produced by Chico Eastridge for JAM

Civic participation

Norwich Selectboard 9/23/26

Watch the Norwich Selectboard meet for a regular and special meeting, held specifically to allow the group to respond to the Town Manager’s annual performance evaluation process.

Media Maker featurette

Infrared landscapes filmed by UV youth! We’re excited to share that so soon after the Summer Feature Film Intensive, alumni from the program have already begun their own projects.

Lebanon High students Simon Trussell ('27) and Adelaide Jones ('28) met August Abbott (Mascoma High '28) this summer while filming JAM’s first feature film Valley Transit, and are now creating their own film called “The Creator.”

Shot entirely in infrared photography, this fantasy project explores the creative process and COVID-19…and was fully funded on Kickstarter! Read their full interview here.
