LANE CLOSURES ON NORTH- AND SOUTHBOUND I-495 IN MARYLAND SCHEDULED MONDAY, FEB. 17- SUNDAY, FEB. 23 

495 NEXT Crews Performing Work for Overhead Signage

and Setting Barriers and Attenuators

FAIRFAX, VA – There will be daytime single lane and mobile shoulder closures and nighttime single lane closures on north- and southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway) in Maryland between Cabin John Parkway and the American Legion Bridge beginning Monday, Feb. 17, through Sunday, Feb. 23. These closures are needed for Virginia’s 495 NEXT crews to install temporary signs and barrier, and conduct preparatory work for overhead sign structures, along this section of I-495 in Maryland.


Closure details are:


Daytime

  • Monday, Feb. 17, and Tuesday, Feb. 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Mobile shoulder closures on north- and southbound I-495 
  • Thursday, Feb. 20, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Single right lane closure on southbound I-495


Nighttime

  • Wednesday, Feb. 19, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Single right lane closure on southbound I-495 
  • Thursday, Feb. 20, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Single left lane closure on southbound I-495
  • Sunday, Feb. 23, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Single left lane closure on northbound I-495 

Drivers are urged to use caution and expect potential delays if traveling through this area. All work is dependent on weather and other factors, and may be prolonged or rescheduled.
