 President's Message

Hello,

I hope this message finds you well on the eve of the California statewide primary election.

The right to vote is foundational to our democracy, and The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was one of the most important achievements of the civil rights movement. Yet the United States Supreme Court’s recent decision in the Louisiana v. Callais case reminds us that questions about representation, voting rights, and political participation remain very much alive. The struggle to ensure that every voice is heard continues today.

Democracy depends on participation, and voting is one of the most important and effective ways that we can participate. The John M. Langston Bar Association has long championed equal access to justice and equal access to the ballot. As we honor that legacy, let us recommit ourselves to educating, engaging, and empowering our communities, starting with the fundamental right to vote.

Onward and upward,

Ludlow B. Creary II, Esq.

President

The John M. Langston Bar Association
